that our area is supposed to be going through a drought....................
it looks as if their words have come true..............every thing is still in the colors of yellow, gold and brown.Every thing is dry and waiting to be refreshed. The Italian jasmine , with it's cheery, bright yellow flowers,.............the one I usually show photos of this time of year, is still............... lying silent, waiting for the true deep moisture that wakes it from it's winter sleep. However, as I look all around me..................
there is still beauty in the dry, yellowed , prairie. So many interesting shrubs and flowers..................I wonder if I would notice their curious shapes if they were in full color?

How about you? Are you still under a silvery, white blanket? Maybe the drizzly, damp rain? Or maybe you are seeing the sprouts of color emerging? I would love to hear!

Kathleen, that's your artist's eye that sees the beauty everywhere! We still have roses blooming here and some things that have not been damaged by the cold we've experienced so far. We've had plenty of rain, though and getting more today. We needed it. We were behind, too.
Oh yes...under a blanket of snow with the promise of more this evening. So ready for spring but like your gold flowers maybe I won't be able to enjoy the fresh colors if I don't go through the summer first.
Good morning Kathleen.
Here in San Diego we have been enjoying bright, warm(almost hot) weather after all the rain we had for several straight weeks. Everything is a beautiful shade of green. Well not everything. I was at the library yesterday, warm with a bit of a breeze and I noticed some of the trees still had dry leaves on them. Crazy. Almost spring and some trees still look as if its Fall. I will certainly be looking forward to all the wildflowers this year, with all that rain we had.
Sure wish I could sent that rain your way.
blessings,
jilly
There is beauty there, Kathleen, even without the water. I enjoyed looking at your photos. It is so different from here. We are still covered in a blanket of snow and expecting more tonight. I hope you have a great week! :)
Hey Kathleen, I'm still seeing snow and icy patchs and that keeps me close to home (inside really). Im so afraid of falling with these weak knees of mine, you never tell when they decide to not function properly :o). Ginny
We are thawing out, Kathleen~ haven't seen the ground in a week now!!
Still under a blanket of snow and expecting more today. I keep telling myself that it is much-needed water for the agricultural area we live in. A far cry from Texas, with it's droughts and deluges! It'll be at least 3-4 more months before we see anything green :D
Hi Kathleen, our Christmas cnow is just about gone now. Grenville and I took a SUnday walk and found all sorts of interesting subjects. I'll post a few photos later this week. There were lots of greens and browns here.
I love the beautfy of the prarie and the desert and dried seeds and pods.
It would be nice to get be able to get out side and not freeze. Maybe in 10 more weeks....maybe

Plenty of snow here, but it's the temperatures that are making a difference.
This morning, when I let our dogs out I knew when I grabbed the metal handle "it was cold" are you ready..... wind chill of -31*F
I know that in a couple of months we will start seeing the snows melt and warmth on the way.
Thanks for sharing your prettiness with us.
Blessings,
Mel
Hi Kathleen! I love those silvery, wispy colors. I see some of them around here. I also see bits of green - just weeds mind you. Those first little clovery weedie things that come out. We finally began getting some much-needed rain! I'm SO ready for some sunshine and green! How 'bout you??
You cold make some really fun dried arrangements, they are so pretty. We have snow, lots of lovely snow.
Cold here
the mountains are getting lots of snow...which will be good for us when the snow melts.
Beautiful photos and interesting flower heads for sure. I bet we wouldn’t notice them in full color. We have shifted to full blown rain here. I wish I could send you some. We are tired of it and it’s muddy :(
It's cold and dreary here in central Arkansas--not my favorite time of year. I'm definitely a summer person and after the Christmas season, I am ready for May!
