especially if it is a pair of roosters. They have acres of the grounds to walk around, there are over 2 dozen hens to go along with the walk.............
and they still insist on spending the morning hours in heated battle. The one on the right is Norman...........he has only one eye..............the reason.........he lost one last year because he loves to fight.
The one on the left is Gabriel............and yes, he crows loudly and shows off to Norman......
and the fight is on.
Sometimes I wish I had only kept hens.................
but how I would miss the crow of the rooster!

Must be a "man" thing, Kathleen... *haha*
Kathleen - love these pictures! I'm still debating getting a rooster. How do your hens do where you live? Coyotes, dogs, hawks, owls? We have all of those here, and when my hens get bigger, I've often thought I'd let them out, but I'm leary.... those two gents are really going at it - you should post a video for us. Sounds like there are plenty of ladies for them both!
Thats one of the things I miss about being on a hobbie farm the animals, when I was a kid our Roosters where always challenging eachother. We have a small farm that is just down the road from us and I hear the roosters every day and the hens when they are doing their nut we used to call it when they get upset and cluck a lot lol I love it ! There is also another farm about half a block away and I hear their animals as well ! Here in our own back yard we get lots of song birds . Nothing like the sounds of farm animals and wild life ! Have a great day !
Love this!! Reminds me, though, of some really ornery - no . . . downright mean - roosters we had during my growing-up days!
Is Norman the Bully of the Roosters!! lol I love the picture! Like Paula said? It's a man thing!
Too funny, and I agree with Paula, must be a 'male' thing. All that land and they fight over a small piece.
blessings, jilly
With all that space, you'd think they could learn to get along! Great pictures, Kathleen! :)
Typical male attitude. I was flogged by a rooster when I was about two or three years old. Still have the scar on my knee where he got me. Mean ol' thing.
I have no chickens right now so I'm really missin' the crowin' rooster!

Well, be grateful they are fighting with each other and not attacking you. lol!
I have a rooster who is in solitary confinement for always trying to body slam and spur me. Maybe if I got him a sparring buddy he would stop going after me? NOT! lol!
I used to love the crow of a rooster, too. But this guy has destroyed that joy. He can't just crow a few times in the morning or afternoon. No. He will crow 1015 times in a row....all throughout the entire day! gah!
I think I jinxed him by naming him Paul Revere. What do you think?
lol!

Hello Kathleen,
Gabriel and Norman made me smile. Those hens at least know what it going to happen each day. I wonder if they put bets on!!!
Happy days.

I love the colors of Chickens and especially Roosters but the crowing made me crazy..I have my kitchen decorated in Chickens and Roosters. Have a great week and I hope it is a little warmer by you than it is here :)
I miss the crow of roosters, but the man thing is just way too much for me with grandchildren around...the rooster will chase those little kids.

Love those hackles : ) Funny how they "like" to fight. I never understood that about males. Any males.
They do keep life interesting, don't they!
Roosters can be so funny! Love these pictures!
We had two roosters before and they did the same thing. Then one day I came home and one of the roosters was dead. No blood or anything, just a lifeless body. I always wondered what happened to him!!
I agree about the rooster's crow. Our little rooster's crow isn't the best but it still makes me smile!!
Men! Always fighting .... over nothing mostly! I was so amazed the first time I heard my chicken/rooster cock a doodle do. She wasn't supposed to crow. :) I loved the crow of the rooster but mine did it all day long and then decided he didn't like me being the boss of the back yard and kept coming at me. My neighbor has him now and the girls and I are just fine. He was a beautiful rooster!
