The windows of our home are large and wide................

and I love to place old bottles that I have collected
through the years on top of the windowsill.

I have had these bottles for many years..........some passed down to me by family or friends.........

Some found lying half buried in the ground...........

Each one, well loved and looked after.

They all take me back to a more simple time..............
to sunny days, when my parents would load us kids into the back seat of the car and we would go for long drives on the dirt and gravel back roads of Texas. Stopping when we would see a falling down farm house (as long as there were not NO TRESPASSING signs), crossing over the over grown brush and high grass to walk around .................... exploring.
I have loved old houses like this since, wondering who lived there?, .....................what was in these old bottles??
How about you?
Do you have a collection of what nots or trinkets?
I would love to hear!

I bet those look so pretty when they catch the sun coming in through the windows, especially the colored ones. I like that they bring back good memories for you too.

Oh, so many bits and pieces of the past I have. And I love each and every one. I have a few of those old bottles, too.

Yes, I have a few little bottles and love to put a single flower in each one before setting it in the window. Sun shining through makes them sparkle.

I do have some old bottles that I found here on an old trash pile, years ago people used to burn their trash in piles, and I am now finding many discarde glass bottles. Thanks for sharing, Kathleen, I love to explore old homes.
Enjoy your day,
Sue

Your bottles are so pretty in the window. I have a friend in N. Calif, she will be 90 on Wednesday, she has had some of her bottles in her window so long, that they have turned to light lavender color. Very pretty.

Yes I too wonder about a lot of old things and especially some of the things that belonged to my Grandmother and some of her post cards...makes me wonder where she was and why was she there and sending post cards to my grandfather. I wonder if my kids and Grandkids will look at some of my things when I am gone and wonder :)

Hi Kathleen! Glad you joined the What-Not Party. Isn't it fun to find those treasures. I too display bottles on my windowsills. LOL they aren't worth much, but let light hit em just right, the colors and prisms hit the wall.....they're worth more than diamonds and such.

I envy you wide window sills!! I adore your bottles in the windows. I have always wanted to do this with my bottle, but have never lived anywhere that I was able to.

Love your blog!

Sometimes I wish I lived in the 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1890 or the 1900s. Old things make me feel that sort of longing.

Kathleen, we have a couple of old bottles, but hardly anything like a collection. Right now we are in the midst of de-cluttering stuff but there are no collections unless odds and ends count.
