usually, by this time of year, we are in full sunshine and
a bit of heat filled days. This year, it has been chilly,
foggy, with overcast days. Sometimes very cold........
but not as cold as some of you have been experiencing.
The weather seems to be angry........at everyone.......everywhere .....
this year.
So many people have suffered through some of the most
extreme weather conditions.
So I hope this finds you in peaceful and pleasant days.
Dear March - Come in -
How glad I am -
I hoped for you before -
Put down your Hat -
You must have walked -
How out of Breath you are -
Dear March, how are you, and the Rest -
Did you leave Nature well -
Oh March, Come right upstairs with me -
I have so much to tell -
I got your Letter, and the Birds -
The Maples never knew that you were coming -
I declare - how Red their Faces grew -
But March, forgive me -
And all those Hills you left for me to Hue -
There was no Purple suitable -
You took it all with you -
Emily Dickinson

We have had an extreme amount of ice in the river this Winter. Once the Great Lakes start to unthaw it will be worse again as they are about 90% frozen now. UGH. Janice
Yes, it has been a strange winter. I think we're all more than ready for warm sunshine. Just 2 weeks until the official start of spring!!
In Northern Indiana we had autumnish weather right up until January. Then we had that horrid Arctic cold come down for a visit. We have hardly had any snow, but temps have been colder than normal. I can only hope that Spring remembers where she is supposed to be in April.

Lots of cold and snow here by me yet. It is pretty normal though for this time of year.
Lots of sunny days here lately-but COLD! We have snow that's a few months old-hard old stuff, about 5 inches of it. Hard to imagine warm weather and leaves. But spring is indeed near. I hear birds I haven't heard in a while, and the sun is moving north. Also there's a smell of it in the air.
The weather has been crazy here this year too. Our snow has finally melted here--at least for now, although it is still cold. I'm looking forward to spring's arrival.
What a lovely poem, Kathleen. I am not familiar with a lot of Emily Dickinson's works, but this one was so perfect at thi time of year and I liked the reference to my favorite color, purple.
