November has arrived

I love to see the cottage smoke
Curl upwards through the trees,
The pigeons nestled round the cote
On November days like these...
~John Clare (1793–1864), "Autumn"

I love early November.  The days here have been so pleasant!
I wish they would stay this way all of the time!  My husband, Sophie dog, Taboo Kitty
and I have been enjoying leisurely afternoon walks.  The wild brush is turning
into a colorful canvas.

The mornings are very chilly and often covered with thick fog

My thoughts are turning to the woods where I want to
start to work on garden spaces

The new banties have started laying the tiniest of eggs

yet, I still have vibrant and lovely zinnias in the flower garden
with whimsical creatures enjoying it all

My thoughts are also turning towards the holiday
foods that I want to fix for our Thanksgiving
gatherings. I am keeping the menu
simple with every one's usual favorite foods
but I am also going to make at least one
decorative pie. This one is peach

and this one is cherry.
We have wood stocked up for the fire place
and I am waiting on word from my children
to see who will decide to fly home for
the holidays......my heart is hopeful to
see them all.
So tell me.........
how is your weather?  What are your Thanksgiving plans?
I would love to hear!

Enjoyed your post! It is so nice that 'fall' is here. Although, it is not the fall that most of you enjoy, the weather down here in s.e. FL has cooled somewhat and there is less humidity and hurricane season is over.

I love your decorated pie tops. Just beautiful!!

Happy holidays ~ FlowerLady

It's so nice to see a zinnia. Mine are all black now from the freeze. You have the nicest pictures, would like to take a walk through your woods and help you pick out those garden spaces. (and maybe have some of that pie!).

Love all your photos. Yep Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Figuring what I will make to take to the kids. I definitely have to make pumpkin pie and found a recipe for a very rich chocolate cake with white choc frosting I want to try. Hope all make it home for the holiday. Hugs, lj

Your pies look delicious and so pretty too.
Aren't Bantam eggs just so cute? That one fits right into the teaspoon.

Our weather has been unseasonably warm. Roses and my petunias and a volunteer flower that was a gift from a bird are still blooming. I remember in the past my roses would be done at the beginning of September. My husband used to raise chickens when he was young. He always talks about his Banny Roosters. Is that what they call Bantam? I'm a city girl, married to a country boy.

Enjoyed this post, Kathleen, and seeing the flowers and paths that you all walk. We also go for walks, but your views are more scenic unless we go to the large city park near the mill apt. Unfortunately, it has been a bit rainy in recent weeks and we have not gone there to walk. The peach and cherry pis look so good that I wish we lived closer! Our holiday plans are that we will be meeting with my brother and his wife, niece and her husband and granddaughter and her parents and all having dinner together. Hope your children are able to travel home for Thanksgiving.

Our weather is not so good. It rains almost every day. It's not terribly cold, but not warm either. The trees are pretty-lots of yellows. My garden is ka-put,got frosted, but somehow there's beauty in it now too. I love praying mantises, and I always hold them when I find them. They are wonderful bugs.

Beautiful post, Kathleen! I love all your photos. We will probably go to my husband's mother's house for Thanksgiving with his family. Then we will have a second Thanksgiving with my side a few days later. Your pies look delicious! I hope you have a nice Holiday!

Love you photos! Those pies look delicious, too. Yum! We are hoping our daughter and her beau get here for Thanksgiving from upper New York State. Miss our babies, don't we!

Those pies are beautiful! I like the trees among the landscape. Are they some type of oak? It will be fun to create some gardens around them. Phil/Minnesota

I have visited your blog before and thought that I was a follower . . . well now I am and very happy to be here. Our daughter and granddaughters are not able to come home this year. Our daughter is an RN and is scheduled to work at the hospital the day before and the day after Thanksgiving. So it will be a quiet time for us. It's alright because my dear Steve has been having so much back pain lately that he just need rest.
Your pies look amazing, I love how decorative you make your top crusts, they are works of art :)
Have a gloriously happy day!
Connie :)
