It's butterfly time here on the grounds

every year the Monarch butterflies flutter their way from South Dakota on their way to southern Mexico.
They land here and hang around in the trees for only a few days and then the glide away to their destination.

It is a delight to walk underneath the mesquite trees with hundreds of these winged beauties fluttering above and all around.
How about you?  Are they fluttering around you as well?
What other creatures are migrating your way?

Here we have had an occasional Monarch flittering round, no doubt out from their winter hibernation. I must get some Swan plants this year, Lovely photos, you have many flutterers there.

When we lived in Ca., every winter they would stop in Monterey and I remember how wonderful it was to see them. Thanks for sharing.

Oh how wonderful!!!When I saw your first photo, I thought it was one of your lovely embroideries. It must feel like a bit of heaven to have them all around-their beautiful wings fluttering...
We have geese migrating, and a flock of robins stopped by to eat in my crab apple trees. I have seen some cedar waxwings too.

We used to have lots of monarch butterflies go across the yard in the fall, but not so much anymore. I miss that sure sign of cooler weather coming.

What a sight that must be to see so many gathered in a tree! I occasionally see them here in my neck of the woods. I have noticed the squirrels are very active gathering acorns and the walnuts. The trees are beginning to turn and the nights are getting cooler. Fall is definitely on it's way. Yea, my favorite time of the year.

Oh how beautiful that must be! We have a few butterflies, although now that I think of it, I didn't see many this summer! But nothing like what you must see with the migration. Lucky you!

I've never seen the butterflies migrating through my area, but I wish I had. They are so beautiful. Great photos!

That is so neat! I actually saw a monarch the other day and wondered why it was still here - it should have already migrated farther south by now. I wrote an article about the monarchs a few years ago - they are an amazing and beautiful butterfly. Your pictures are lovely!

How very exciting! I had some Giant Swallowtail caterpillars eating my little lemon tree and I so hoped I see the transformation into butterflies, since I was donating the leaves to my small tree! But they disappeared, and I don't know if birds ate them or what. I would LOVe to be in the monarch migration route. So wonderful!

Yes, we went on a cruise to Catalina Island CA and then down to Ensenada Mexico. I did several posts. Scroll back a ways if you get some time to see them on my blog. It was a wonderful trip!
