and my chickens are enjoying the cuttings...........
they do their little "chicken scratch dance"
and nestle down in the soft dampness of it.
and the grounds are now clear of the jungle that had sprung up from the recent heavy rains.
Now...........for the wild ones............there is not much of a place to hide......
The toad seeks shelter by the watering can.............
the rabbit eats cautiously at the feeder..............
and the bull snake rushes up the tree..........
wishing I had not spotted it.........and wishing I had not cut down the tall grass it was hiding in.
(click on photos for a better view)
Yet..........I think it is smiling...........a little..........
don't you?

Ack! That snake would be the end of me! :-)
I liked the bunny and the toad though.
I love the scent of fresh mown grass, have since I was a girl.
I did NOT click on images of snake for a bigger view. :-)
Have a great week ~ FlowerLady
I will leave the snake, but lovely rabbit feeder, does this mean he leaves the green veges alone. Cheers, for a happy week ahead. Jean.
Hopefully, the rains will come again and again throughout the summer. I am sure you and the critters wouldn't mind terribly if there was more grass to mow.
Love to see your critters!
I love your chickens and all of the other wonderful animals! Even the snake!
I just learned that bull snakes will kill rattlers! So it's really good to have one around. Love the way your yard looks...so peaceful...and love all the critters.
I never even thought about a rabbit feeder until seeing this. What a neat idea!
Does the bull snake eat mice? I agree with the others- I can handle most of the critters but snakes put me over the edge!
