What a difference a little sunshine can make!

Here is the early morning field last week after our ice storm..........

and here it is this morning,..........with the temperature reaching up to the 70's later in the day.

I have to say...........I love the woods even in their frozen state

with the ice dripping off of their limbs

and the pasture and prairie grass stiff and not moving..........

Out comes the sun..........and every thing looks alive again.

Even Sophie is more happy about taking a long walk........

maybe we went too far this time............she is headed back home without me.
She's that little black dot you see up the road a ways.

Now is the time for all of the pretty Christmas trees to start showing off their shine, full of Christmas cheer.
This was in the middle of a parking lot in Lubbock TX. this past weekend.
Here's hoping that a little sun and Christmas cheer has made it's way to you!

Beautiful post, as always, Kathleen! That sure is a pretty Christmas tree, and everything at your part of Texas is pretty - frozen or not.

Hi Kathleen, those are nifty icy landscape photos, and the morning sky picture is just beautiful. How funny that you out walked Sophie. She must have been cold. I like to drive around looking at all the lights this time of year - it's so festive and pretty. Have a great week!

Beautiful photos, Kathleen. I love the sunrise shot and the icicles too. I hope you are staying warm.

Fiery sky and ice on the ground, a super combination. Lovely photos. Keep warm when you walk Sophie. Cheers from Jean.

I can't help reminding you of the old saying, "Red sky in the morning sailor take warning." Our weather guy says freezing precipitation is on the way. Ice can paint some pretty pictures, but it can also play some ugly tricks. That old highway goes on forever...guess that's what Sophie thought. Great photos!

We are on the fringe of a coming storm with ice predicted. I agree ice is so pretty, but I am glad to snuggle up inside!

I always like all your pictures, I would never get to see your country in person. But always my favorite is Sophie and the zinnias.
