now that the extreme cold weather has come...........
The chickens spend most of their day gathered together in the warmth of the heat lamp in their coop.
It's been 8 years since I purchased store bought eggs...............
today, I bought my first dozen of eggs from the store and was shocked at how pricey they have gotten to be.
As most of you know...............I have fallen in love working with cement.
I am a woman obsessed! I can find a cement mold in any thing I look at!
I found these old candy molds and knew instantly what I wanted to do with them.
So............from this...............
to this..................
to this...................
and now this!!
Isn't this the cutest little rooster?
The little hens are cute as well!
And I am having fun deciding which colors I want to paint them in.
When my hands aren't busy with cement...........or embroidery..........
They am busy decorating for the season..........
with my loyal helper..........Sophie
Salem thinks he is a help as well..........even if he is actually removing the Christmas balls with a swipe of his paw.
How about you?
What are your holiday plans?
Are you traveling or are you staying home this Christmas?
I would love to hear!

Oh my gosh! I love your little cement chickens. Those are adorable! You are so talented and creative, Kathleen. :-)
Your roosters and hens are precious, Kathleen!!! You did a great job on them!!
I'm only getting an egg every couple of days right now... I'm down to four hens and they are all molting at the same time. Poor girls. I need to make them some sweaters~ they look awful!
Sophie and Salem seem to be having fun. I adore your roosters and chickens!!
Kathleen, your rooster and hens are wonderful, I can see them right at home at your place, but equally so, for sale, they would go faster than hot cakes!!! Greetings from Jean
You clever girl! Cement chickens, who would have thought? My chickens are not laying much either, and yes, it has been a heartbreaker to have to buy eggs at the store again. I think I see new chicks in my future!
Lovewhat you are doing with the cement ! Wow.

Pretty little figurines! So cute!
I am staying home in PA this winter, and so far I am enjoying it very much! My hens are doing well, however, no eggs in the nests. Must be not enough light here in the frozen north. I really have to work at eating store-bought eggs.....
Hi Kathleen! Love the chickens, your creativity with the cement and your sweet pets!
Your chickens are so cute. Great idea. Just love Sophie and Salem. Keep creating....
Hi Kathleen, I'm not getting any eggs from my two hens so you're doing really well in the egg department, as I see it. What a good thing that you've had your own egg supply for so many years.
Oh, those concrete chickens are so adorable! You really have the knack for this. So pretty.
Have a great weekend!
I know what you mean about the eggs, mine aren't laying right now either, and I dread having to buy them next week. I love your little chicken figures!
Oh I'm in love with your cement chickens!!!They are just wonderful. And I wanted to tell you how happy I am that your son is okay-thank God!!!
Bless you-Debra
You should have shown some of your beautiful embroidered chickens ! I have one from you I think I'll feature in a post on my chicken blog soon.
I am only gathering a few eggs now too, but my ducks have begun laying eggs every day , so they're helping us out. I had to buy a dozen eggs last year about this time and was shocked at the price of eggs. Guess our cluckers are worth their feed !
I love your beautiful cement chickens. They are wonderful and colorful. I'm glad your son is well. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
