"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands........" 1 Thessalonians 4:11

I know of a place.............

where the tall prairie grass is pink..................

as well as some of the weeds...............

where bouquets of wildflowers are still blooming........
even though it is November.

I know of a place.............where the road curves

to where there are woods where children used to roam and play............

in those woods, there is an old weathered mesquite tree,
where a family of woodpeckers make their home...........
every year.

In that same tree, this young pilot, tried out his wings..........

and then left the nest..............
I know of a place where a badger goes to sleep.......after he has had his early morning drink,
I know of a place............that if you look straight up at night with a flashlight.......
you will see a great horned owl looking back down............

I know of a place where the most whimsical creatures gather.................
and all of these.............
memories gather and stay in the depths of my heart................
always to be remembered.
It's funny...........most folks think of heaven as being a place where we all float on white fluffy clouds in a bright blue sky.............
but I just know............
my heaven will be.........
where a coyote calls out and serenades under a moonlit sky...........
where the wind tosses the prairie grass like waves on an ocean............
where at every glance there will be some creature staring back with the same amazement that I am staring at it with.........
this is the heaven I like to envision.
How about you?
What places do you know the secrets of ?
What do you imagine your heaven to be?
I would love to hear.

Even though I've lived here on this farm for 43 years, I still feel my roots to be on the rocky hillside farm where I was born; lots of secret places there.

"Lord, build me a cabin in the corner of gloryland," no golden streets or mansions. ;)

What a lovely post, Kathleen! I like your vision of heaven. When I imagine heaven, it is always with flowers and flowering spring trees everywhere and music and great celebration. :-)

Kathleen, that sounds like someplace I'd like to be, too. The Bible says everything God made was good, and there'll only be good things in heaven. I'm sure more than we can imagine, but I'm hopin' that some of our good things here we'll see there, too. Love this post...

Kathleen, you are a poet. That is beautiful. And I think heaven for each one of us will be just what makes us the happiest. Mostly it will just be being with our Father.

I'm just hoping it's better than this place called Earth..
Sometimes I think it's been mis-named ..more like it's a Hell on Earth..maybe this is our second chance :o) When I get to Heaven I'm gonna tell how I was treated here.
Maybe I'll have some chickens there too!

Lovely post Kathleen. Our farm has so many secret places, and as far as heaven, I am told that nothing in all of it beauty can compare, and I am looking forward to meeting the one who made it all possible for me to be there.
As always a blessing when I visit.

Sounds to me like the Heaven I have a vision of is in the pictures you posted. It is a shame that some people never get to see areas of the country like that....they don't know what their missing. Have a great week end and maybe I will take a walk through the woods this week end and see what I can see in my surroundings :)

Kathleen I completely understand. I try to convince people that this is my heaven. Heaven on earth.

What a beautiful and poetic post, Kathleen!

As much as I adore the pinelands where I live, my idea of heaven is a gigantic piano showroom - and we all have carte blanche! Heh!

This was an absolutely beautiful post! I got lost in your sweet descriptions, and wished I was there! It does sound like heaven!

Heaven to me will be a mountainside with a flowing stream and my loved ones all around.

Kathleen, my idea of heaven on earth is similar to the things you mentioned in that it is nature, the creatures around, the sky above and water and land below.
