The weather and the colors

that surround me are all changing. From the hot and dry long days...................
to the more moderate and breezy short afternoons. The pumpkins and gourds are already starting to call my attention out to the garden grounds. The photo above , a little blurry, is just a small amount of my harvest this year. I cannot explain why these round and weird shaped balls from the garden captures my heart the way they do! I am totally convinced, that next spring I am only planting the grounds with pumpkin and decorative gourds...........along with my zinnias. The whole process from planting, to watching the plants grow and produce............is my bliss!
In the woods and throughout the grounds, wildflowers are taking their second breath of showing off before the winter chill hits. Their colors are vibrant and in "fall time hues".

Along the paths and the road that surrounds the grounds............sunflowers grow high and wave in the autumn wind. Fat bumble bees buzz in and out, heavy from their pollen coated legs. This is the weather and the colors I cherish the most. How about you?
Has your area come alive with fall colors? What flowers and produce are popping up this time of year? I would love to hear!

Lovely photos, Kathleen. We don't have much in the way of new flowers here this time of year except perhaps for the mums. We are starting to get color in a few of the trees with the leaves changing though. :-) Happy weekend to you!

Just starting with color around here. Our pumpkins just bloomed last week which is way way to late like 2&1/2 months to late.

I do love fall but it's not likely to be here until Thanksgiving. Your zinnias are gorgeous.

I Love growing gords and next year I want to grow a bunch of the bushle gourds..I don't know what the colors are like yet where we will be living because we will be moving from South AL to Central IL next week but I am anxious to see them and will be posting in my blog and showing pictures as soon as I can.
I do love fall too but sometimes I can't make up my mind if I love fall or spring the best :)

Oh how I love reading about your love of Autumn. Mother and I always looked forward to visiting a little roadside stand to buy gourds, pumpkins and Indian corn. We have some purple and yellow mums blooming and the purple beautyberry bushes are bright and pretty now too. Leaves are beginning to fall and the last of the hummers and butterflies are entertaining us. Hope the week ahead is full of blessings.

We are still in the verdant green of summer here, but there is a promise of fall in the early morning hours most days, and there are buds on the naturalized mums in the flower beds.

G'day Kathleen ~ I love your incoming cloud pics ... fronts always fascinate me.

Your yellows are very pretty. Our leaves are slightly touched by autumn ... treasuring each day left of the summer, tho.

Have a lovely week.

Great post and pictures, as always, Kathleen! Thanks for your nice comments on my blog. There are just a few leaves beginning to change, here. And the weather is not quite so oppressively hot. Really looking forward to autumn...

Hi Kathleen - I've been out of pocket!

I swore that I was gonna grow pumpkins this year, and I didn't. It just got SO hot and stayed SO hot and it's STILL hot. We plowed our garden in several weeks ago. I'm just trying to keep my roses and azaleas alive right now. The weather man said we are having near record high temps for our part of the state.

You should show us some pics of your pumpkin garden and gourds. I love pumpkins. The little white ones are so cute! I hope you have a wonderful productive week!
Take care - Vickie

Your Fall flowers are sunbursts of color!I love this time of year the best. Fall color around here comes mainly in the leaves...very much like New England's fall colors.

Your pumpkins, gourds, and zinnias are colorful indeed, and make my heart happy to see.

Fall is my favorite time of year. We are starting to get some color, but some trees leaves have just dried up. We are in drought onditions right now and a burning ban is on in our county.

Your pictures are so pretty and your words go right along with the sunny flower faces! Good to see you posting!

Kathleen, I am just like you about the pumpkins and gourds, only I don't have a space for them. My zinnias are nice though and really tall. I was looking at Renee's Seeds and she has some called Little Lion, I want to have some of those next year. My sunflowers are all eaten up by the squirrels, yours are gorgeous. I have sedum and Japanese anemone and tree marigolds and of course butterfly bushes.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year also. I try very hard not to think about what follows, I try very hard.
