Where The Road Leads

When Sophie and I go walking, we usually go the usual route. Sometimes around the cotton field road, sometimes on the county road that runs in front of our property and sometimes to the field road that leads to our treasure hunts. But sometimes.......

other roads that lead to other cotton fields seem to say....."psst,...over here! " And I just have to see where it may lead.

It's the same way with the woods and ranch land that surround us. I am always tempted to go see what lies beyond that barbed wire fence. But we usually stick to the road. It is amazing that just a couple of days ago, the grounds along the road were yellow and dry....

yesterday, Sophie and I found these beautiful bouquets of the cutest little blossoms! And even though flowers always catch my eye with all of their different colors and smells...

the leaves are also are very pretty and different in design. I just love this red leaf!

The wild holly....I think it is actually an Aldevera bush or something like that, is also blooming.

I think these are known as weeds....but to me, as long as they are blooming.. they are pretty!!

The ox eyed daisies are one of my favorite wildflower.

Again, aren't these leaves beautiful? There is more than one color of green and the details are so pretty!

It always seems that I find a new blossom each year. This is the first time since I have lived out here that found such a pretty blue color.

Even the bees have already found the flowers. If you look closely, or click on the photo above, you can see the bee busy at his work.

This is probably just a weed to many, but doesn't it look almost like a Fern plant? The leaves feel soft like velvet. There is so much inspiration waiting outside my door! All I have to do is go out and look. Speaking of such, stop by my embroidery blog http://yesteryearembroideries.blogspot.com/ to see what I have done with some of the leaves and flowers that I picked along the way.

As you can see, we took a very long walk and Sophie is ready to find the road that leads home. She is such a good, patient, companion. Now.. my question to you... when you take walks, what do you look for.....rocks? shells if you live near the water? Birds perhaps? I can't wait to hear!

Hello Kathleen. I enjoyed walking with you and seeing what you saw. I look for whatever catches my interest. Sometimes it is flowers, sometimes clouds, birds or animals, bugs, people, cars---almost anything that is out of the ordinary.

Wishing you a blessed and peaceful Sunday. :)

I like to look at the different flowers and "weeds" too lol. I also like to look for arrowhead.

Hi Kathleen. I love walks and almost anything might capture my attention. I find if I sit a spell in any one area for a while that there is soooooo much going on in just a little, average appearing place. A mossy rock or log will have little teensy plants peeking out, a variety of bugs will be living in, around and under neath and others will flit about. Usually if I sit long enough birds and frogs start appearing....so much wonder and beauty. I can even find such amazing things in a city weed patch, and I think you are good at that too.

You know the definition of a weed is anything that is growing where you do not want it to.

Lovely walk. Thank you for sharing.

I love the post, that road looks very long. Some times when I am working in the garden I leave the weed when it has a bloom. Sophie is so cute.

I am so ready to start seeing flowers again!

I'm definitely a wanderer and can't wait until we have our own acreage so I can take walks and not worry about whose property I end up on!

I enjoyed this way very much. I wonder at your discription on your puppy...it makes me wonder if Sophie isn't alot like you.

Have you read this blog http://clayhillfarm.blogspot.com/
If you like to grow your own veggies maybe you would enjoy reading about the alarming bill she talks about today.

my favorite thing to watch for when we go for long walks is an interesting tree silhouetted against the sky. I've always enjoyed the sounds of a river/creek running nearby too.

I'm definitely a bird watcher- lately I have seen a Pileated woodpecker near the barn- always in the morning and evening! Sometimes I walk when it's getting dusk to see owls- spooky but I think they are so beautiful!
I love Sophie's scarf around her neck!

Enjoyed your walk!! Can't believe how many flowers you have blooming in your area! Our are just beginning to peek out-with a few daffodils and crocus blooming. When I go for a walk-I look at all the foliage like you do-and I can't help but wonder about the people who have walked the walk before me.

It's lovely to walk. Especially when there's all sorts of changes going on.
I just like to take in nature. What I might expect to see is a woodpecker, squirrel or deer.

Oh, I envy your wide open spaces to roam. I can't go very far here without bumping into someone else.

I love the pictures of the blooms you found. Our flowers are just starting to open up here. Spring is trying its best to arrive:-)

There really are so many treasures to find if we really look. That is the problem with always being in a hurry, we miss the treasures that God has set about for us but then ask where He is.
I love it all from the birds and their song to the rocks with their texture. When it comes to nature I can not choose...it is all so lovely.
