Waiting

These past few days have been filled with the every day "busyness" but along with those are the days of waiting. I decided against getting new chicks and ducks due to the off and on freezing spells we are getting...instead.....I will wait till late April or May.

Eleanor is waiting for her chicks to hatch as well.
Out in the greenhouse, the blackberries bloom and wait for me to plant them in their garden. ( I am actually doing this today.) Mr. Sting, the wasp, doesn't seem to mind my hesitation.

I have waited for my plants to sprout.....they have.....now I am waiting to plant them in the prepared grounds. The high winds and dirt are just too much at this time to do so.

The pine trees have sprouted and I am waiting for them to grow bigger, developing a stronger root system, so that I can plant them as well and start selling some.

The biggest thing I have been waiting for??... (this is a photo of tail lights driving off in the early morning hours ).......waiting for a phone call from my youngest son to let me know he made it ok driving to the game....and then I wait to hear his car pull up delivering him safely home. He just got his car. It's funny,........ seems like I could not wait to see the day my children got their first bike, their first driver's license, .......their first car. Now I can't wait for them to get home and stay awhile. How about you.....what are some things you have been waiting for? A long distance call from a loved one? ......the day your special soldier gets to come home......? good news from a friend? I would love to hear!

Hey, Texas. I am waiting for a vacation. My husband and I have been working for a couple of years, seen one of ours come home and another marry and leave. We need some time to go away and relax.
I am waiting for that opportunity!
I know what you mean about the kids; I enjoy having them here more than ever, even for a little while.

Me, too, Kathleen - I'm waiting for kids to come home. I'm waiting for one of them to get married. I'm waiting on a grandbaby. All my friends have them - I want one, too. However, I gotta get somebody married off first! I'm waiting on the Lord for Him to bring their prospective mates into their lives - Christian mates. I'm waiting on the Lord to bring my husband a different job. Life is all about waiting sometimes.

I know the kind of waiting that you're talking about, but your question brought to my mind a more serious kind of waiting this morning. Perhaps the kind of waiting that comes from dissatisfaction with one's own circumstances. And I don't wanna be that way.

Why can't we be happy just in the moment and enjoy the day, the hour, the minute that God has given us??? We're always looking ahead to the next thing. That's just life I guess. As long as we're ANXIOUSLY waiting for the day when we can be with the Lord!

I wish my hens would get broody and hatch me some babies. I have been waiting on planting time as well. I probably should have put some of mine in cups inside before planting outside. But, I am new, so I am learning.

I love visiting your blog, you have lovely thought provoking posts.
Yes, it seems we spend half our lives waiting for something.
Right now I am waiting to see how my brother is doing (just starting dialysis), waiting to hear how our cat is doing (just had surgery), waiting for my flower seeds to sprout. Right now my hubby is waiting for me to make him some lunch!!

I enjoyed your waitings. I'm still waiting for those extra hours in a day, but I'm not holding my breath this time!

But really, I'm waiting on the Lord, his timing has proven to be the best so far.

Have a great day, enjoy your gardening and farming time.

I'm waiting to retire. My husband retired and I want to be home doing things with him. Three more years and I will be there.

You had the same strong winds we did. Whew!

You know by my blog - we didn't wait on the chicks or the planting and now I'll have to replant some things. Frost got'em. Chicks are doing great though - I don't wait very well - it is either now or too long in the future to think about! Impatience is not just a flower in my yard (I know it isn't spelled that way - just trying to be poetic) Your waiting is significant and the tail lights - a real grabber of the heart. We know there is a season for each part of life - seems we want to blur the lines between seasons doesn't it?

Great post. I agree with one of the other comments, you always seem to leave a thought provoker! Waiting - that's a good one. I'm not ready to answer however.

Love the plants, and so glad you got your green house. You are blessed

Wow - your sprouts are seriously up there! Time to plant soon! That pic of Hercules with the leash makes me smile every time. =)

Hello Kathleen,
Elenor looks so patient in her nest, reminds me of ours when they set. I am so glad your plants are doing so well, I am so looking forward to being able to get out and garden, but right now the pollen is preventing that!!! I know the feeling of seeing a loved one leave and waiting so anxiously for their return. Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Sue

I am patiently (?) waiting on all my work to be done so I can do some quilting, oil painting, candle making...... silly me.... I know I should just take a couple hours a week and set aside for creativity, but my mom trained me well (don't play till the work is done) good grief, I don't leave my bedroom till the bed is made, and I don't even eat breakfast till the animals are fed. I am trying to break these bad habits cuz I know that is not living a balanced life.

I am waiting for it to stop raining long enough to do anything at all outside. I have tomato plants waiting to be planted. I am waiting on it to be warmer. Soon, soon, patience is what I need more of. ;) Kelly

Eleanor is a beautiful hen, Kathleen- I have one that looks just like her! I call her Cinnamon and she has almost the same color feathers as Eleanor... do you think they might be twins?

I can relate to this post. We are always waiting for something, whether it is our children to come home. Waiting for phone calls to hear how family is doing. Waiting to see how our garden will grow. Just waiting. I guess our whole life is a waiting game.

Hugs :)

Kathleen, I enjoyed seeing all your lovely growing things. I know the feeling about waiting for kids to grow into things and then wishing them back home again once they gone off to do those things. Have to be careful what you wish for, I suppose. :)

Hi Kathleen,
Seems like I spend most of my life waiting. Waiting for my hubby to get home everyday from work, waiting for the weekend, waiting for a raise, etc. At the moment, I'm waiting for my IRS refund check. Then I'm applying it to a cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary!!

Hi, Miss Kathleen!
I'm waiting to re-plant the tomatoes that died, the butterbeans, some of the green beans and the purple hull peas that drowned in the garden (from heavy rains.) I'm also waiting to plant some of the herbs we bought at the nursery (because the ones that I grew in the house died when I transplanted them in the garden!)
I'm waiting to re-plant one variety of the cucumber (that some little critter dug in and stole!) and re-plant some carrots that didn't come up...... As you can see, I'm waiting on the gardening thing, too! Some things have persevered through the cold snaps and heavy rains, but others have not -- so I'm trying to be patient before I re-plant.

I completely understand about your son! I have our daughter call every morning when she arrives at work (let the phone ring once); call at lunch (let us know if you're staying at work or where you're going) and a call to let us know she's on her way home. You just can't be too careful, nowadays.

I think we all need as much peace of mind as we can get and a phone call (which seems so little) can be monumentous in providing a little of that!

Hope that your son had a great time at the game!

Many Blessings,
Julie

Oh, Miss Kathleen!

I forgot to tell you! We're getting ready to plant some watermelon seed and I thought of you.

I was telling my husband that I knew that you soaked them in something before you planted them but I could NOT remember what???
Water? Vinegar? ????? Then I finally just picked up the computer and started going through your posts -- it was April 6, 2008.
Peroxide! So our watermelon seeds have had their bath and are waiting (yep, even the watermelons are waiting!) to be planted.
Thank you so much for posting -- everything!

Many Blessings,
Julie

Kathleen,

I love visiting your blog. I've always liked little chicks and it is hard waiting until they hatch. Waiting can be very hard, but I'm glad after the long, cold winter waiting for spring, it has finally sprung!
Happy Spring! Happy Easter!

I am waiting to see what the future holds....we are on a big adventure. Getting things ready to move across the country before the year is out.
