It's wet when.............

In the early morning hours.................before the sun is awake and smiling it's warm smile across the land.............a strange, loud , sound can be heard..........coming from every direction...........it almost sounds like creaky old rocking chairs..............being slowly rocked...........back and forth..............but no..............it comes from this cute little creature. The rain toad. I placed him in an old enamel dish pan and he patiently let me take his photo...........he's photogenic..........don't you think?? Best of all...........when one hear can hear the croaks of these toads.............it can only mean one thing.............

Rain...........and lots of it.
It has been raining cats and dogs...............well, toads...... here in our area. The sky has been full of dark, smoke colored, clouds and the air has once again turned chilly.
My newly sprouted garden has been drenched and I can't wait to see how fast it will now grow with Mother Nature's help.

Boo has grown impatient with me splashing in the mud and wants to go inside to her favorite spot by the window for a nap. I think we might get more rain tomorrow. How about you? What has Mother Nature brought your way? I hope it is good and I would love to hear!

I suspect the rain is on its way to Arkansas. We need it. I have watered my plans each evening since I planted and hope to get mulch for at least one of my beds tomorrow. I still say I created a monster when we origionally landscaped!

Love the Frog - I have two ornamental ones in my flower beds.

Blessings for a great week-end. Take care.

Oh, your garden looks happy in the wet. It's a little dry here, we could use some of that rain.

Wow...wet and green there
we have not had rain...
even though it was in the forecast
We were up in the mountains visiting friends and there were a few flakes up there...they might get snow overnight. On the way up we spotted nine Big Horn sheep on the side of the road...and of course I didn't bring my camera (o:

Hi Kathleen!

Please send some of that rain this way!!! We're getting crispy already! I'm already having to water my garden, with all the sand and the wind around my farm, it's terribly dry!

Good toad picture - very photogenic indeed! How's your new job going? Still having fun??? I've missed your posts but I know you're extra busy right now!

I don't think Vickie is pleading for rain today - we are already at over 2 inches and no sign of let up. I used to love those rain toads - they are the kind which bury deep in the sand with a bubble(which hardens) cocoon and when the moisture reaches them enough to soften the cocoon they know to dig out and start frantically making the next generation of toads.
Your sandy soil can withstand such soakings - around here things die fast if the water stands on top of ground too long. I do miss the sandy garden soil - mine is part clay and part loam - enough clay to not drain super and enough loam to make me too optimistic!

April showers will make the garden grow!

Lovely toad!

What weather has come our way, you ask? SNOW! SNOW today for Pete's sake! I don't ever remember snow this late! Usully never after the first week of April.

I hope the tomatoes in the cold frame will be ok. I have more planted, just in case they aren't.

What a great picture! He sure was handsome! We've been pretty dry lately. Since I started with the garden again, I've been wishing for more rain, so I don't have to water.

Looks really WET in your neck of the woods! We've had the loveliest sunny weather, after a miserable, dreary winter here in central Arkansas. Today was partly cloudy and a little cooler, but still nice. Hope you get some sunshine soon to dry out the garden and it does wonders for one's mood! Have a wonderful weekend! V.

Cute toad! The weather has been fair, yesterday it poured for about twenty minutes and then the sun come out, today there isn't a cloud in sight.

I just don't get it about those rain toads. Where on earth do they come from? And where do they go when it isn't raining? You can see our recent rain toad in this post http://agrigirl.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/food-revolution/
