Storm clouds gather

and drop welcoming rain these last few hot summer days. It is amazing how many things the fresh rain can bring forth.
Mushrooms have popped up everywhere throughout the woods,
and on our walks, Taboo and I have met the most curious creatures
A lot of volunteer moon flower sprouted in one flower garden this early spring.  I transplanted 15 of these young plants.....to mostly underneath the large twisted mesquite trees all along the yard.
They are now all beginning to bloom their large fragrant white blossoms just before night falls.  Hopefully the seeds will replant and the moon flower will all come up next year in the same spaces.
Many flowers are in vibrant bloom,

while some have faded and now it is time to gather seeds and pretty petals.
Do you save and dry special bouquets or clippings from your gardens?
I save the colorful petals of flowers and seeds when the flowers start to fade and place them in old jars or bottles.
The jars of petals and the bottles of seeds are a cheerful reminder of the season that has  passed and gives hope to think upon the planting season to come.

It is at this time for my thoughts to gather.....sometimes, overwhelmingly, upon the upcoming holidays.  I think of the recipes and ingredients to gather, the plans, the loved ones and all of the memories.......soon to be gathered .....for now
It's September

The Moon Flower, I have seen just one bush down here in NZ, and the lady of the garden invited me to be there in the night when the flower opened, A glorious display, something I will not forget. Here, we have bulbs emerging, grape hyacinth already flowering, as are the snowdrops, that my Mum had along the hedge in front of our home, when I was a child. Bluebells and pink Ixia, a few freesia, and tulips to come. Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, John Keats , perfect words in " To Autumn" .

What beautiful storm clouds. I love looking up at the clouds & sky. We had a nice rain yesterday, slow & steady, great for the potted plants I have remaining. We've begun to clear and tuck away our garden. Yes I too, like to collect the seeds, I've got a plate full of drying flower heads to go through soon. Sounds like a good rainy day project. Moon flowers are very pretty.

Your colorful cloud capture is amazing. We have had a lot of rain this year and I haven't been able to keep up with the weeds because of a painful hip.

Your moon flowers are beautiful and I love your dry bouquets. I have dried some roses given to me and I used to press flowers years ago but for some reason, I haven't done that lately.

Take care and thanks for your condolences for my brother.

Hugs, Julia

Oh that beautiful cloud back lit with sunshine!!! And that most unusual mushroom which I would love to have in ceramic. I have not heard of Moon flowers but they sure are pretty.
I used to cut and dry many of my flowers but I don't do that any more. I used to hang to dry mostly Hydrangea blooms and use them in holiday decorating.

You have given me a good idea about saving some of the pretties in jars! I love jars and have a habit of saving lots of them. And finding uses for them!
The rain HAS been glorious.

Lovely flowers! I use to grow moonflowers and loved how they looked in the actual moonlight. Janice

Your cloud photo is quite amazing! I love moon flower and have grown it in the past. I have some flowering tobacco that will bloom soon-it will smell so good. That always re-seeds. I was happy to see an orange California poppy grow where I had planted them almst 20 years ago. I dug up that ground this spring, and now the flower is blooming. I think there is a spiritual lesson for me in that somewhere! I'm going to save the seeds. I will also save the cosmos and zinnia seeds, and my other poppy seeds. Your petals look beautiful in jars.

What dramatic and colorful storm clouds, Kathleen. I had never heard of moon flowers before reading this post. The blooms look lovely as do all your flowers in bloom. We finally had some much needed rainfall this week.

Beautiful photos! So glad you got the rain! We've had enough with the hurricane, but thankfully the only damage was broken tree limbs. Very blessed! Much love to you! xoxo
