As we said farewell to the old year, snow began to fall

We awoke on New Year's day to 10 1/2 inches of snow on the ground.
It was a winter wonderland all over.
Just a few days later...........along came another snow.
5 1/2 inches this time.
Usually, snow in our area is light, and I like to sit on the front
porch with a cup of coffee and enjoy watching the flakes fall down.........
well........I was not able to sit out at this time.
The wild birds were very hungry and happy to find feed.
and the little woodpecker still clung and pecked at the frozen trees.

now, snow has gone and the  past few days have been pleasant with some
of the most beautiful sunsets.
Usually I have new things that I want to do when the new
year comes..........but I have come to a stage in my life
that now.........I have things that I do not want to do.
I have come to realize that life is more simple and happier
when I recognize there are things I will not try to accomplish
and not to keep doing as I did in the past years.
But one thing I will keep doing is to keep up my hope and faith as
we go into this new year.
I hope this finds that you have had a happy beginning to your new year and that you keep hope and faith as you go forward in the days to come.

Well, this post certainly answered my question about your usual snowfall. It was a beautiful snow, and certainly one you will remember. Maybe the birds will remember it too, and where food will be when it comes again. I agree with your comments about a more simple life and about going forward with faith and hope.

Your header is so lovely. I love seeing rainbows. They are right out of GOD's crayola box. I agree with you your sentiment about doing things. I am looking for simpler things, and ways to do them, or eliminating things which are noisy and cluttered, making more room for simple.

What a beautiful beautiful post. I enjoyed every word and every picture. Those are some serious snow pictures. Such a pretty snow it was. Lucky little birds. We feed the birds too and this morning just outside the kitchen window were four Blue Jays. They wer loud and fussy but so beautiful. Thank you for such a touching post.

Mary and Faith have said just what I was thinking. How we reach a stage where we want to have a simpler more uncomplicated life. That's my aim for 2021.

You sure had a dump of snow!! Glad it's melted now and will provide moisture for your plants.

That is SO much snow for your area! I bet you have a bumper crop of wildflowers this spring (bumper crop being a relative term in West Texas).

The snow sure is pretty. We still have lots of it on the ground and it seems to just keep snowing. I like the snow but wouldn't mind a break from it. :)
Wise words you have written. Makes for a happier life!

WOW that is a lot of snow. We have had a mild Winter here this year with hardly any snow thus far. Janice

You have made me envious of your snowfalls, kathleen, since we haven't had any amounts close to that since mid-December. We did get 3-4 inches last week with the possibility of more this coming week. The snow scenes around your house looked beautiful and peaceful as did that sunset!

Wow! You really got a lot of snow. I am thankful to say - we didn't! And I totally agree with you. There are just a lot of things I no longer feel the burden to accomplish. But I still have lots of things I do want to do! Have fun, my friend. It helps.
