September has started out

just the way I love for days to be.  There have been cooler, shady days full of clouds,

slight breezes,

and occasional rain showers.
I am so glad for Autumn to be here.

The sunsets have been the most unusual
and breathtakingly beautiful.
and the sunrise has been just as spectacular.
With the day being cooler, my walks have been longer and slower.
Sophie and I walked along the back field and I picked a handful
of bright sunflowers.  They were full of bugs and bees,
and a group of tiny bees followed us half way home, not
wanting to give up the bouquet in my hand.
I found myself in "pumpkin heaven" the other day.
A store had it's entire front displayed in beautiful pumpkins of
every shape and color. How can I choose just one??
I picked out a couple of the usual round orange and fairy tale pumpkins,
but this lovely one  looked as if it was wrapped in lace,
so it came home with me as well.
They make the small back porch more cheerful and welcoming.
It has also been a fun time for friends to gather
around a happy table for treats and a time to catch
up on each other's lives.
I savor the slow down days like this.
Gladys Taber said it right when she wrote
"As summer wanes, we cherish every mild dreamy day."
I hope this finds you enjoying such days!

LOVE the sunsets and sunrises! The pumpkins are a delight as well. I've never seen one like your lacy one. Glad you are enjoying some together time with loved ones!

Love seeing your sunsets and sunrise. We are still having mixed up Colorado weather-yesterday was in the 70's and today in the 50's. I have two giant mums on my front porch, but hesitant to put anything else out as we are having so many issues with vandalism in our development-people destroying political signs, stealing flags etc.
I love your pumpkins, I have one green one from a grand that sits inside my entry hall. Just have to go finish a Autumn wall hanging this afternoon.
Have a great day and week.
Hugs,
Noreen

Your Autumn table looks so lovely!! I'm beginning to plan how my Thanksgiving table will look. For Canadians it's a few short weeks until the big day and time to plan.

We went to Walmart earlier today and there were big bins of pumpkins for sale. I didn't find any I liked. Maybe next time. I like how you have placed yours. It inspires me.

The sunsets you showed are amazing, Kathleen, with the sun hanging so low and so reddish-yellow. If we had a front porch, then for sure we would have bought a few pumpkins for decorating or carving as we did in VA. The table setting looks so inviting and autumnal. How nice to be able to share this time of year with good friends and good food too.

I brought my pumpkins and squash in today from the garden, because we are supposed to have a heavy frost tonight. It's going to be nice to slow down a little, now that Fall is here. Your porch is very inviting. That looks like a nice table to have a Fall gathering. Phil

I too love this time of year, and somehow it seems the shortest of the seasons. Ooh that lacy punkin is pretty.

What a lovely post, thank you. The kind of pumpkins you use for fall decorating don't grow here in South Africa. I was enchanted with your shop display and wished I could throw my leg over those bales and climb in with the pumpkins.
