When a chicken coop is not being used any longer.............

Most of you already know that I have a small group of little chickens

and for the first couple of years, they have used this little coop .
But recently, I had the large kennel pen that was over this coop, moved and
attached to a larger hen house.  Now my chickens have a nice roomy
coop/hen house and a safe yard to wander around in.
I did not want this coop to be tossed away.........

so I moved it to my corner garden to use as
a decorative feature for my cement and yard decor
chickens

I placed a colorful resin/plastic rooster on the inside of the coop

along with a pretty black resin/plastic hen sitting on a nest

the empty nests have fake ceramic eggs

underneath  in the pen area, I have a vintage ceramic rooster
and a cement hen with her chicks

I also put in my handmade cement hen and rooster set

Standing proud on the outside roof is a plastic rooster.

Now my garden has chickens in it......ones that wont scratch up or
eat away the plants!  I plan to decorate the coop more with flowers in
the spring time.
I am sure in time, this coop will get weathered and wear down from
the outside elements.......but for now, it has
another life.
So tell me...........do you like yard art?
Do you like chicken yard art are some other kind of decor?
I would  love to hear!

What a great idea. Love the way it looks. In and around the pen, the chickens look very real. It is going to look so pretty in spring and summer with flowers around. I wonder how long it will take until a big hawk comes and sits up high somewhere to pick out one of those chickens. Ha-Ha he is going to be surprised.

Your real chickens are fortunate that you take such good care of them.
Your artificial( for wont of a better word) chickens look cute and from a distance, real. Our lot is not big enough for much more than what's here already.

Your chicken coop is truly amazing, and the roosters and hens there will always give great delight as you walk by. Yes, it might weather over the years, but this time and for ages to come, it is beautiful.

Oh I love any kind of chickens and I like your little coop. You sure had a collection of chickens to decorate with. It's very cute and will be pretty with flowers growing around it.

Love it!! And the chickens inside look so real! I have a cement hen with two chicks in my flower bed. That's about it as far as critters go, but there are old metal things in the beds too. Do you have any ideas to keep real critters (deer) from munching on everything?

Every garden needs chickens! While I would prefer the kind that cackle and lay eggs, I am afraid that the ones that are here and there in my garden are not of that kind! :~/ I do love your chicken coop!

Great idea of how to re-purpose the coop. Terry loves chickens and rooster. Understandable when the guy had a pet pig when he was growing up. Me, being a city girl from Chicago...well not loving chickens or barn paintings on the wall behind the couch. I would definitely use that coop idea in my landscape though. Terry has resin chickens and roosters around the pond area.
Merry Christmas

I really like this and it will be good, as you planned, when you can have some plants in pots around it. Very nice. Phil

When I first saw just the photos, Kathleen, I thought these were live chickens, which will teach me to read first and then look at the photos. That said, i think you did a great job in re-purposing the chicken coop!

I have never wanted any concrete yard things, except maybe one of those big baskets. But I would take the hens and roosters in a heartbeat. I had never seen them in concrete before and I so want some!

Your reals ones are just beautiful...don't know how I forgot to say that. I guess so taken by surprise that there are concrete chickens and roosters.
