that I saw on a website.........and it is for sale
I love our home that we have.......and will never move from it.
But , I have to admit...........these lovely, lonely old places, call to me and
tear at my heartstrings and I can easily imagine living
in them.
There is also a lovely poem I found ........on the Internet
that fits my feelings perfectly
so, I share this with you today.
“A Quiet Place” by Flora Turrill
Let me find a little house
A home with pretty views
Where evening sunsets
Lace the sky with glorious pinky hues
Let me ponder memories
And watch the flowers grow
A while to sit and daydream
Some seed that I may sow
Let me find a little house
Placed far away from town
To seek out Nature's luxuries
Upon the unscathed ground
Let me live a humble life
Beneath cerulean skies
For golden is a life well spent
I pledge to treasure mine
Tell me......is there a lovely place that,
although, you love where you are,
still steals your heart away?
I would love to hear!

That is so warming, and the memories there of long skirts, the fires in the winter, and picking fruit in the huge orchard in summer. We have sold our home, and are looking at an older one, not as old or large as that, but ample for us all. I will be content if I found one that fitted your lovely poem.
That wonderful old home spoke to my heart, but I can just imagine all of the work it must need.
Love that poem. I am learning to be content with what I've been blessed with, right where I am.
Have a nice Sunday and a great next week ~ FlowerLady
Like you I love the house I live in but dream of finding an old house in the country. I pick up This Old House magazines at the thrift store and gaze at the old houses fortunate people have found, and fixed up. I like to see how they bring life back to a neglected house and make it a home.
Precious poem.
Yes indeed, there is a little red cottage near me at the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. I take photos of it and dream about living there.
No one else in my family can understand my longing for this little home, but every time I drive by I slow down and tuck another memory of it in my heart.
For some reason it just says "Home" to someplace in my heart.
Yes, there is an old log house, surrounded by added sheds, that I love. It's no condition to try to go inside, but I always wonder about the building of it since the logs are so big and long. We've been told the upstairs rooms were for the residents' slaves. I would like to have a log cabin but there's no way it could happen now. The farmer has too much "stuff" in his sheds and barns to move. ;)
Thanks for the encouraging comments you left for me. I'll probably blog again...
So much work though to fix up an old house. I know we've done it before but it is fun and we enjoyed it.
A lovely poem.
Well I have to admit, my heart was loving the picture you shared of that old house. I can see it loved again. We live in an old farmhouse-about 120 years old-and we've done a lot to it the 28 years we owned it and loved it. There's so much more to do, and I'm not sure if we'll stay as we get older. But I do love it here.
Oh, I love the old house you have here. It really is beautiful. I see lots of houses when we are out driving in the country that touch my heart. The poem too is beautiful.
Lovely house. The person who's going to own it is really lucky.
There is a home I love. I pass it oh so often. I always hoped that if it came for sale, we could at least peek inside. I watched it each year and saw an addition to the back porch connecting it to the garage and loved the sprawling yard. Then one day I drove by and saw the SOLD sign! I had never seen the SALE sign! Not too long later, our newspaper had an interview with the couple that bought the house. Their story was JUST like MINE...loving that house at first sight and wishing for a sale so that it could be theirs. Now when I pass I only wish I had seen inside because I'm pretty darned sure it will never come for sale again in MY lifetime.

I have always wanted to restore an old farmhouse just like this.....it has so much potential...but alas, I could never leave Michigan. Lovely poem. Janice
What a beautiful poem and I sure love the old house. Great posting.
Such a charming house. Makes you wonder about its history and the people who have lived there. Lovely poem to go with it too. The beach calls to me, but I doubt that I'll ever live there.
That does look like a wonderful old home with lots of potential, but also it will need a lot of work, Kathleen. However, if you did want to relocate to Vermont, we would practically be neighbors as we would both be living in New England...just saying.
I do love the poem. Like you, I am where I intend to stay! But I have to admit, my heart still goes back in time to my grandparents' old farmhouse. It was my favorite place in the world.
I love the looks of that old country house and would love to have the money to fix it up and live there
I love all old houses I see, I suppose because they remind me of the way my grandmother's looked. I can still see it in my mind's eye. Even though it's been gone for long time now, I still tear up when I pass where she lived. So many happy memories.
The poem is lovely too. Sorry to be late here!

Lovely house. The person who's going to own it is really lucky.

I would love to have the money to buy one of these old treasures and restore them to their original life. Especially that one. I am going to save that poem, it brings back memories of my grand mothers home, how I would love to to back there just one more time and enjoy it once more.
Lovely, these places call to my heart,"if only",I am going to savor and save the poem as well....it's the stuff dreams are made of. Following along with you. :)
