"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands........" 1 Thessalonians 4:11

The eggs in my pocket have been cracked and the needle in my hand is bent.........

what started out as a routine trip into town ,
ended up with my car being ruined........
and for us in the car........
badly bruised and bent...........but  all able to walk away.
We have much to be thankful for.
No other cars involved........just a sturdy tree on an embankment to challenge my car.
Only 2 miles from our home........although it was a freezing day,
the roads appeared to be fine.
While my husband drove along, I was busy making out the grocery list............
our daughter.........home for a visit,  was in the back seat............
then..............one small patch of ice
and the car turns into a tilt a whirl ride.
Now the year is at it's end, and we try to get this behind us
and  face the new year..............with new hope.
My spirit is as badly bruised as my face and ribs............for somewhere
in the spinning and smash......
my joy and enthusiasm was jolted out of me.
but I will soon search for  fresh eggs to place in my pocket
and I will place a new needle in my hand.........
and joy will once again return with it's enthusiasm.
Life's lesson.........
seat belts really do save lives..........
and if it is icy outside.........everything can wait until it melts.
Wishing you a safe and blessed new year!

Just so thankful that the three of you are okay. It could have been much worse. How scary that must have been. I like what you said about there being more fresh eggs and another needle. So true! Take care and feel better soon.

Oh my goodness! I'm glad your accident was not any worse than it was. It is bad enough as it is. May your peace and joy come back soon, and your stitching be resumed, and your bruises disappeared.

so very sorry for y'all in having that car accident and yes ma'am - the after effects physically and mentally are challenging but a good strong Texas woman like you will pull through this and definitely again be working with that needle and making delicious treats with those eggs. Bless y'all in 2018

Oh God bless you dear friend! I'm soooo glad you are alive!!!!!
Only once was I in a car accident, and I remember how shaken I was for quite a while after. I too was driving on ice with a really old pickup. The truck fared well-they were built like tanks-but I did have some bruises. It was scary.
Time will help-take what you need-do things that help calm you.
I'll pray for you all too.

I am so sorry, Kathleen! Even rain slick streets will do it to you if you're not careful. Yes, it happened to me on the way to work one day. Lesson learned.
Isn't it so good that God rebukes the devourer for our sakes! I so count on His mercy every day. Glad you are all okay, and believing you'll soon feel like your usual confident self. Happy New Year!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about this accident and your injuries. I am thankful that you were all able to walk away and that you all will be OK with some time to heal. That is so scary when something like that happens. I hope you all heal quickly and have a safe and happy new year.

Small wonder you are having trouble recovering your joy and enthusiasm after such an awful accident. I'm so glad you all are okay, although bruised and battered. Take care and be gentle with yourself as you heal.
All the best in the new year.

I've had a few accidents on the ice. While I was still working it was so important to go to work in a blinding snow and slick roads her in Northern Indiana. But after the first accident, I said nothing is THAT important. Surprise, my bosses agreed and were just grateful that I came in late, or even waited until the next day.

I am so glad no one was badly injured, except your car of course. Please bounce back quickly, which I think you will. For anyone with your talent cannot be kept down. Rest. Relax. Enjoy a respite.

xx, Carol

Sorry for your car, Kathleen, but glad to know that you and your family members aside from bruises will heal. Of course, the emotional bruising may take awhile longer and in time, I hope your spirits will be lifted once again. As you know too, things can always be replaced, but people cannot dear friend. This year has gotten off to an unfortunate start, but hopefully things will only get better from here.

I am sorry about the accident. There will be more eggs that aren't cracked, and more unbent needles. Hopefully, you are feeling much better by now, and getting back to your energetic, happy self.

Kathleen, sorry I'm late in responding to your post. That accident must have been quite scary, so glad that you and your family are ok now. I hate the feeling of driving and suddenly that slipping feeling when I hit some ice. You will probably be so careful from now on that it might never happen again!
