A little while back.......in July.........

I posted about this area where there is an archway.......
in a wonderful part of the grounds........
but very over grown

I spent a good part of last summer clearing the ground

and making decorative cement path stones

to create a floor for this space.

Now the space if finished.......I also added a bench and a couple of chairs.........
great for a gathering to chat and to sip coffee.

The floor is a mix match of cement path stones that I  decorated with rocks and pine cones gathered here on the grounds and a few decorative glass stones given to me by a friend.
As fun as the path stones were to make.........they took a long time and a lot of work........and a lot of cement to make enough.

I made several cement pumpkins......and used real pumpkin leaves from my patch as molds for the
large cement leaves in the photo above.

I also pressed real leaves into some of the cement stones.

I made a cement watering dish to encourage birds, lizards and any  wild creature to stop for  a drink

Since the  path stones are all different shapes.........there are gaps between them.......
which I filled with various rocks I picked up here and there on the grounds.

It is a wonderful place with a wonderful view

and I often have company when I come to sit out in the early morning.....
where there is Sophie........there is usually always Homer.

It is also a  wonderful place in the very late afternoon........

right before it gets dark and the moon is on the rise

Homer says it all in this photo doesn't he?

How about you?  Do you have a special place in your garden......or porch.....
where  you like to spend the quiet of the day?
I would love to hear!

Beautiful beyond words, and to sit there with Homer, what a treat. Lovely pavers, and all good things take time. You thought of everyone, even to the water dish. Love it all so much.

That's so beautiful. I love the stonework. My favorite spot is in my front porch chair gazing out into the woods......I have a brown thumb!

What a delightful little oasis you've created there Kathleen! I am always so blessed with your creativity. I really like the cement pumpkins and those leaves are genius!

I remember that post way back when, and the arch that you wanted to fill with stepping stones. Wow. You have made so many! I have made some too and used pretty rocks and glass marbles. Unfortunately the marbles have a tendency to fall out after a while.
My favourite place is my back porch where I sit on the swing and look at all my flowers and the birds in the bird bath. But that won't be happening for a few months yet.

Hi K
I love this little spot. It's transformation was truly a labor of love...and joy. Your kitties love it too. We sit by our pond watching the fish and frogs, on guard for those stinking snakes that showed up last year. We are waiting, not so patiently, for spring.
xx, Carol

Awww, I'd sit out there with Homer, any time! I really like your leaf-shaped ones. It's so neat about the prospect of lizards coming for a drink. They are just not part of our wildlife around here. -Jenn

This is really lovely. I am amazed at what you were able to do with the space. My parents were great gardeners, and loved to sit out in the yard and enjoy what they had done.
I love how our cats and dogs like to be around when we're doing something. They'ge good companions.

I love this special spot you have created, Kathleen! I'm sure that took quite a bit of time and hard work on your part to create it.

This project sure was a lot of very creative effort, Kathleen, and Homer seems to really enjoy the spot as well.
