it blew hard winds
making homes disappear in the dirt from the cotton fields.
On the same night..........the wind, itself disappeared ........
leaving a cold and crisp night to enjoy the Christmas lights in a
neighboring city.
The next day was calm, sunny, but chilly........
with birds sunning on the iron horse fence poles
slightly puffed in the slight breeze..........
and the few lingering butterflies finding a sunny spot to rest
even Sophie was panting from the heat after one of our walks
and she and Homer found a warm spot to take a nap........
this morning we awoke to the season's first light snow..........
leaving the woods quiet .....as the birds huddled in shelter from the brisk cold
Taboo could not resist the comforting warmth of the fire as it crackled
and the glow of a candle made the coffee table a perfect place for rest.
So........tell me.........are you under a blanket of snow...........
or are you still enjoying sunny days?
I would love to hear!

A quite stroll at your home, perfect visit for my Friday. Down here, hot, about 28 Celsius, blue skies with not a cloud anywhere, not even a gentle breeze, both cats have sought a cool place in the shade.
As of yesterday, we are under a thick blanket of snow. You really did have all kinds of weather, didn't you! -Jenn
Beautiful photos...we had about 3 inches last night. Ug-I have to go out in it right now, to let my geese outside for the day....I guess we won't be getting any more Indian summer days!
We have had a couple of very light snowfalls which are gone now as they were less than an inch or so, enough to snarl some traffic, but not enough to linger. Taboo looks comfy and warm by the fireplace and candle.
No snow here, but the temperature was quite chilly today. I'd love to cuddle up with the cat by the fireplace.
I live in Northern Indiana where most of our snow is Lake Effect caused by winds blowing over Lake Michigan. We had such a hot summer the lake is still warm so those winds are picking up moisture and dumping snow where they decide to blow. We had our first 1 to 3 inch fall, though the winds blew north of us in Michigan and that area got about a foot. THANK YOU!!
I never think about Texas getting snow unless it's in the mountains.
I love this post and your pictures are wonderful. Here in North Carolina we have had mostly nice weather until yesterday when the wind blew in a cold front. The coldest weather we've had this year. 22 degrees this morning. But, no snow.
We are looking for a big snow tomorrow also small squalls have caused the most terrible accidents lately. Your photos are just gorgeous, I love little birds so much. Your part of the country is so beautiful.
We have a little snow here in central Illinois, but nothing like the areas northeast of us, including my daughter's home near Chicago. I love the snowing, but the accumulation....not so much. Of course we get what we get. It's the getting out and around in the freezing mess that is kind of scary. And very cold. You have a wide variety of weather at your home. I always love your pics and your pets. I just met another blogger up near me that is from Texas. We are sprinkled all over the Midwest! How could so many leave the homeland? :D
I love your photos, Kathleen. You have a wonderful eye for what makes a good picture, and I always enjoy the commentary you pair with them too. We are in the midst of a snowstorm right now. We've got about three inches on the ground and are expecting a couple more over night.
Unlike most of Canada here on the west coast we have a lot of rain and usually not much snow in winter. Apparently this year is different. We have had about 30 cm(maybe a foot?) of the white stuff in 3 days and very cold freezing temperatures. The grands missed school 2 days due to impassable streets (ours is so short it's one of the last to be plowed). Take care,
I love the photo of Toobo in front of the fireplace. Beautiful photos. The snow was pretty and I also never think of Texas getting snow. I like your bird photos, too.
Where am I? and the weather here? bright sunshiny days! I'm in Arizona at my brother's place, out of the deep snow that has fallen recently in northwestern Pennsylvania!! Yes, finally made it back to the desert area, and loving it!
Such beautiful pictures, Kathleen! Love your cat :)
We are in northern Michigan. The snow started late this year but is making up for it with a vengence, 8-12 inches expected tonight. I loved seeing the pictures of your dog and cats, Kathleen, they are lovely!
