and his tail thumps...........in his deep sleep. He is having the wildest dream.......
and I know what about...........
He had a most interesting and exhausting day.......
for a cat ........on his first day out
Taboo has been sitting by the window......most of his first year of life here,
watching us outside.....and wanting to be with us.
It is extremely dangerous.......I do not want to lose him,
so I have been placing him in a harness and he has had little
visits in the backyard........with Homer
he watches Sophie catch her Frisbee
and he acts puffy and silly when Sophie approaches.
Now he has been walking the grounds with Sophie and I.......
today was an adventure for him,
he got to visit the chickens in the chicken yard, as I placed a few eggs into my pocket,
he was drawn to the buzzing of busy bees as they were trying to
make a home into a hole on the outside of the house
just as we made it into the front .......a very hot and thirsty raccoon came to make his daily visit
The coon now knows me well and does not mind if I sit to talk to it for a few moments....
Taboo........is safely tucked away behind me...........
terrified of what he thinks is a strange new cat.
I will not allow Taboo close to any wild animal........another good reason
to have him on a harness
He sniffs out a new scent at the base of an old mesquite tree
and discovers a nest.......with
5 warm and snugly baby bunnies in it.
I pull Taboo away before he gets to introduce himself.........
then.......he gets into a crouching mode.....you can see his interest all over his face.........
but no way....Taboo
this hornet is almost 2 inches long and can deliver a very painful sting
Just as the day is growing tired.........and starts to push us home for the afternoon.....
A bobcat comes out of the brush behind the chicken yard......
and 3 lively and bouncy bobcat kits come out with her.
They jump and roll just like domestic kittens do......
and I lingered to watch them play
a little too long perhaps..............
soon the mother bobcat noticed me..........time for Taboo, Sophie and I to head home
So here lies.........a very tired cat.......
dreaming about his adventures of the day.

Oh my gosh! That was an exciting day. No wonder Taboo is tired. So amazing that you got to see and photograph the bobcat and her kittens--wow! Great photos!
Wow! All that wildlife! The cutest little bunnies too. If we had bobcats here it would make the local news! Andrea
This is an amazing post! The bunnies, the raccoon, and I can't imagine seeing a bobcat! Taboo had a fun day for sure!
What a wonderful place you live in! That wasp made me shudder though! I'm glad you are careful with Taboo-I think he's just beautiful! I'm always glad for your blog visits, and to come here and see your beautiful home...
Taboo is gorgeous! It was so nice to hear about his adventure and see all of the beautiful animals. It sounds like there's never a dull moment at your place!
Oh, my! No wonder he's tired out. You have an amazing bunch of animals and critters there in your grounds.
I'm dropping over from Henny Penny to say "hello". What a wonderful day Taboo had. I commend you on keeping him safe with a harness and I hope it continues to satisfy his wander-lust. I would love to let my cats explore but here, too, it is very dangerous for cats so my two kitties remain indoor cats for now. Bob cats must be quite the sight to see. How wonderful. I got very excited just to see a coyote trot up our drive-way last winter. :-) You have a charming blog and I'll be by again. Cheers, Deb (Ontario Canada)
Hello and thank you for visiting my blog. I wonder if you came via Henny Penny because both of you get so much done on your places in the country. You have such different trees, wild flowers, not to mention Bob cats. I'm looking forward to browsing My Country Kitchen because although I don't care for cooking I do like baking and I'm quite sure I'm going to find some new ones.
I am in awe of the wildlife that you saw in just one day on your property! A bobcat and her young. Amazing! Taboo must have loved being outside. I know our little cat became a whole different, lovely creature as soon as we let him go outside. -Jenn
A great day in paradise!
Kathleen, thanks for sharing your walk and your amazing photos of the cats. Few of us get to experience those things and love to see it through your lens. Yes, keep that Kitty safe!
Definitely a very eventful day for Taboo and you as well, Kathleen. The baby bunnies and racoon were wonderful to see as were the bobcat family at a distance. The wasp and bees are not favorites of mine.
Nice photo walk. Really love baby bunnies. The bobcats are better left alone, lol... They are getting very plentiful in our area. Hugs, LJ
