No Matter Where I Serve My Guest..........They Seem To Like My Back Yard Best

In the early morning hours, while feeding the chickens and looking over the gardens, I have been hearing the wild turkey, "gobbling" from somewhere in the woods

this morning, I heard them close to the front yard.

Just a little while later, this tall hungry character shows up only 10 foot away from my back door, enjoying the bird seed . I love the way it's eyes look........don't you?

I carefully and quietly slipped out of the door,  and took it's photos,  and then......
it spotted me and off it ran into the woods.........."making it's gobbling noise as it went"
How lucky I feel to have seen this beautiful creature.
So tell me........any dinner guests at your back door lately?

That's pretty unusual to see a turkey that close, isn't it? Sometimes we see them in the hay fields where they make nests now and then. I saw evidence of an armadillo in the yard this morning; shame on the dogs for not seeing it. :)

I'd much prefer this guest than the last two you wrote about. Great pictures! I especially like that last one.

Well, he knows where to come for his dinner. We have a stray?? tame?? domesticated cat, large, with white bib and socks coming into our bedroom every night for a feed, we moved the food from the kitchen in a hope he wouldn't venture further. Hugh's trail camera picks him up having a huge feed, 10.30, 12.30a.m. then again about 1.30 a.m. This week I am hoping to find his owners as he has a collar. I am happy to feed our beautiful Ginger Boy, a stray, but this one should be contented in his own home. Turkeys, will this one survive till Christmas??

Wow! He looks huge! You do have the most interesting visitors. I like this one a lot better than the last two. ;)

This is certainly a more welcomed guest than the skunk and rattler! I have been hearing the turkeys in the woods close to the cabin, but I do not see them. I did hear 2 males in a major scuffle, it was quite noisy!

Peacocks used to eat my chicken feed.

The turkey is beautiful! The only dinner guests we have are chipmunks and mice. We live out in the country but live in open hayfields, so it's not too inviting for larger animals. I always enjoy your animal pictures, Kathleen!
