there is something growing, blooming, or almost blooming outside.......
even in this early part of the year.
On one corner, the stock flower I posted about in my last post has gotten over 2 ft high and it's vibrant blossoms fill the air with it's heavy fragrance.
On another corner, the Yaupon Holly still has it's bright red berries.
One corner of the house has a large and very old mesquite tree growing, stretching it's twisted branches up to the sky........... but underneath lies
a beautiful thick patch of Vinca.
It is in full bloom now with sweet lavender flowers and shiny green leaves.
Another corner has a bed full of Larkspur. Thick and green and steadily growing taller until they will be tall stalks of pink, blue, purple, and white flowers. I placed my vintage flower cart in the center of it all.
Never far away from my side is my now constant outdoor companion Homer, who loves to walk around the gardens just as much as I do.
Out in the yard, the Pomegranate tree is budding
and the daffodil patch is starting to bloom
Another bulb that I love is the fragrant Hyacinth
and the cheerful Jonquil
which look wonderful sitting in an old rusted tomato can.

We didn't get any snow at all this year and Spring has been in the air for awhile with bulbs poking through the soil for days. There appears to be an abundance of daffodils in my garden at the moment.
Down here, after 2 very cold mornings, for March at least, I have Nerines, Naked Ladies, and Japanese Anemones all giving lovely colour. Love your boy, he is the best companion ever.
We've had no snow this year ~ so far, but things can change here. Not much is blooming; I've seen a few grape hyacinth blooms and a few daffodils. I'm envious of your larkspur bed and the sweet garden companion.
Our snow is gone(momentarily!), but today it's cold-about 20 something. But our red-winged black birds and grackles are back! so to me-it's spring! I have absolutely NOTHING blooming right now!!! But I'm so excited because it really is spring, and it happens so fast I want to savor every minute of it!

Our azaleas didn't bloom as early as normal, and here is March and they are gorgeous! I wish they bloomed longer though. :)
We've had a mild winter, but I am still ready for spring! I had a single purple bloom on the Vinca and I was so excited.....you must be full of joy to step outside and have such pretty things to see!
Your flowers are lovely, Kathleen. Our crocuses are up and blooming, and the spears of our daffodils have begun to poke through the ground. We had a little more snow last night, but it is already melting back off again. :) Have a nice weekend!
I think you must love Spring as much as I do! It is such a hopeful season - all the long Summer lies before us, but right now we can enjoy all the beauty around us. All your pictures show a wealth of beauty!

You have lots blooming, love seeing bulbs pop up. Unfortunately my favourite stock plant looks like it didn't survive the summer. So glad to see yours in bloom, could almost smell it.

Lucky you to have all of those beautiful flowers already! We have no flowers and nothing green yet, everything is still buried in snow. I enjoyed your pictures, your home almost seems like a paradise. I love Homer, he's beautiful!
Things are just beginning to bloom and leaf out here. Wow, your Vinca is already blooming. I don't believe mine has ever bloomed before summer.
Your gardens and flowers seem to thrive and flourish with your touch. Homer looks to be a very good companion too.
How lovely to see the start of spring happening in your garden! Homer looks happy to be wandering around outside! Being on the under side of the world we are easing into autumn here, some trees are beginning to change colour, the roses are having a final bloom and the hardy geraniums are blooming still.
