the storm visited here on Dec 26th, pelting us with frozen pellets of ice, then high winds blew snow all across the grounds and the prairie
making a nice 6 inch blanket of white that hushed the woods and the grounds in a quiet peacefulness.
the ordinary gardens and chicken yard looked like a scene from Alaska instead of Texas
The ordinary cotton field looked like a frozen lake.
Every thing and any thing was covered and frozen.
Sophie found it very hard to walk in snow that was deeper than what she is used to.
The chickens and Homer the cat, had to stay for a week inside of the chicken house.........
but they were comfortable in hay with a warm heater.
After the snow left, cold weather would not let it melt quickly.
Driving was scary because of the frozen fog and slippery roads.
But .......finally, the sun smiled his warm smile and every thing started to melt.
We still have a good amount of snow on the ground........but it is melting ........
the grounds are soggy,
the cat and chickens are free to roam about,
and Sophie is able to keep up with me better.
I hope that " Goliath" passed over or around you and that you and yours are safe and well.

Wow - well, you know living in Florida makes it difficult to
even imagine the conditions y'all live in. Even while it is
pretty to me, I know it's hard for everyone. I'm glad that
Sophie can get around better, and I hope you're careful too.

We have not snow here in the mountains of NC, record setting warm temps and last week, flooding. The temps have cooled down a bit the last few days and suppose to be cooler the rest of the week. Bushes and trees are starting to bud and flower, just doesnt' fell normal.
We got 5 inches but no blizzard like conditions. Last year at this time it was 21 below 0 here. We have had a nice warm fall and warm Dec. Crossing fingers it lasts. Hugs, LJ
Glad you weathered the storm safely! We got about 3 inches of snow after all the rain and it is all gone now.
Oh my, your pictures are beautiful, but that snow looks COLD! I'm glad it is starting to melt. Glad, too, you were able to keep your chickens and outside cat warm.
Homer, is that his tail I can see on the other side of the netting? You care for them all so well, a little patch of heaven I'm sure. Stay safe and warm.

Beautiful! We are so lucky here in California to finally be getting lots of snow in the mountains. It was lovely to be in the cold, snowy wonderland after Christmas. Thanks for sharing photos of your snowy weather in Texas!
My goodness! Looks like some of the storms we've had here in Missouri over the years. I don't really mind snow, but ice can be so dangerous. We just had rain, rain and more rain!! It didn't seem like Christmas at all this year, the temps were in the 60's over the holidays. Glad all the critters survived the cold!

Your weather is more severe than ours. We have a trace of snow, and today is the coldest it's been all winter and late fall. It's about 15 degrees I think. We're hoping for a mild winter this year-last winter was pretty hard.

Enjoyed seeing the pictures Kathleen, and I had to laugh at the kitty in the hen house. So glad you take such good care of your animals. That is a lot of snow. Looks like you're getting ours this year, as we've only had a couple of inches all together here in central Illinois. We don't mind sometimes. Glad you weathered the storm well.
Oh, my, I've heard over the news Texas had some rough weather. What a snow. The photos are really pretty. Glad you're getting sunshine now. Glad the animals made it through the snowstorm.

Kathleen, I always enjoy your pictures. I especially love the one with the kitty and chicken, they look so safe and cozy! Here in northern Michigan we didn't get much of anything from Goliath, it's funny how the weather situations have been changing at times!
Beautiful photos, but I'm glad it's starting to melt for you. It's just so much easier to get around without the snow. We have had unseasonably warm weather, in the 40's, until this week. This week we got some temps in the single digits and an inch of snow. It's all supposed to warm up again by weeks end. Just the way I like winter to be :) Stay warm!
Oh wow, you DID have a lot of snow there! We're not seen a single flake all during Christmas and the New Year period in my part of the country, although in other, not so far away places here in Germany, there has been snow and ice which may find its way to us sooner or later.
I'm not keen on snow, it just turns into a brown muddy slush in town and makes getting to and from work more challenging, but I'll have to take it as it comes :-)

Just catching uo on blog reading, Kathleen, and have to admit seeing all the snow made me a bit envious. We are now living kn Nashua, NH, and have only had a couple of light snowfalls to date. Of course, last year we had 6 feet total so there's still time.
