"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands........" 1 Thessalonians 4:11

The last days of this year are getting quiet and still

as the grounds, the trees, and all else that grows green
sleep.
I look back over this year at the things that I have gotten accomplished,
and at the things that I haven't .
Seems like my "not accomplished" list is always longer than
my "accomplished" list every year.
It's at this time of year, that I am always planning
on what to do next year.......wishing I had already done some
of my tasks......a lot of years ago.
It's not just the grounds, and my tasks,  I have let slip by my idle hands,
but also I have lost touch with so many here on blogger.
Do any of you feel that way?
Some say it is because Facebook is the new blog of the days........
maybe that is true.
However, in this idle time of mine,
I am going to check in on all that I used to keep up with
many weeks, months, and years ago.......
just to say " hi" ........"I've missed you."
And then I am going to do my best to stay "in touch" as the
new year comes settling in.
I have also done this with family..........and friends................we get lost in our own lives,
 always too busy to
keep in touch..............what blessings we are missing out on when we do that!
I really became aware of this as with each year........a dear relative.........or friend ........... leaves us........
with each holiday.........an empty chair at our table.
So in saying goodbye to this year.........
I am saying hello to each new day of the new year
and to say hello to all of those who are near to let them know how much they really do matter.
That's my new year resolution.
What is yours??
I would love to hear!

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas
and a peaceful New Year!

Yes, lets keep in touch, that is a great resolution. I like both blogging and Facebook, they each have much to offer. Merry Christmas.

Hello back at you! Also Merry Christmas. I too have been feeling a little down on blogging lately. Comments are down, way down. Likes on Google+ are also way down. Many bloggers whom I have come to consider to be "friends" have disappeared. Why? I don't know. I will be interested in seeing some of the comments your post gets. I have even considered giving my blog up. :-{

I have gone up and down with blogging since I first started back in 2008. One blog was hacked into and that really left a bad taste in my mouth. And now with the recent shooting nearby in San Bernadino...we are in Redlands, so much just doesn't seem important anymore, including blogging. I do love blogging and visiting so many creative bloggers but not sure if I will return. Thinking and praying about it during the holidays.

I do hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.
blessings, jill

I like your resolutions-and I agree-I also have not been a good one to keep in touch with friends and relatives. I don't like to be that way.
I haven't made out my resolution list yet-but now you've got me thinking about it...I do love blogging-don't do facebook at all. Blogging seems so nostalgic to me since I've been here for so long.
Merry Christmas to you!

I think we accomplish more than we realize even if it is not something that was on our list of things to do. It is easy to lose touch without meaning to because we are all so busy. I like your goals. I need to do the same.

My list of unaccomplishments is getting longer and longer. I thought I was the only one! You've given me a lot to think about. I don't like making resolutions, but I do know I need to make some changes. I thought I'd have all kinds of time when the kids were grown and gone. As I'm getting older it takes me longer to things and I get tired earlier. I'd love to blog more but often feel like I have nothing to blog about. I admire you for making up your mind. I'll have to see what I can do, but I have enjoyed your blog for some years now and am glad you aren't going anywhere soon.
Merry Christmas Kathleen, and a wonderful coming year with new ideas and accomplishments. For all of us!

I need to make a list of goals also. I have one very strong desire that I have been praying over and that will be my number one goal. It will be the hardest, and probably take all year to see any results from it. Merry Christmas!

As you can see, I have been remiss in my following, too. I just saw this post and it is excellent. So true, time can slip away all too quickly and it is never the time spent keeping up with each other we regret, but the lack of it. So. While I'm here. God bless you and cause His face to shine upon you. May your days be filled with wonder and delight and your sleep be that of the just. Merry Christmas!

Time does seem to be going much faster these days. Lots of bloggers have left blog land for FB. I'm not on there and am not planning to join either, it's just not my style.

Have a lovely Christmas day today, filled with lots of love, peace & joy ~ FlowerLady

Merry Christmas! I enjoyed this post very much. I like FB mostly to see pics of relatives and friends that I can't see in person much anymore. But, I'll stick with blogging also even if only sporadically.

I had an unhappy situation...finishing a bedjacket for a friend who has had several strokes, and getting it to her too late. It made me terribly sad to learn, just as I was getting the bedjacket in the mail, that she was going into hospice. Her husband showed it to her when it arrived and read the card but she was non-responsive. It was so emotional to know I was not only losing a friend...I hadn't been there for her. I've been upset about it ever since. I work pretty slowly on my projects. Can't sit at the machine for long periods because of back pain. Can't work on handwork too long because of arthritis. So it always takes me so long to finish anything. I feel like I have let others down because of that. Made my Dad a lap quilt for his 80th birthday....should have made it for his 75th. He hardly used it, and didn't understand what it was really when he got it. He had Alzheimers. Things like that make me so very sad. I always have great intentions, but it's hard for me to see them through. So I understand your post VERY well!
