such horror!!..........who could have done such a thing??
Sophie................why will you not look at me when I ask this question??
sigh
After a heavy rain passed..........
I decided that I needed to take Sophie for a walk .......to relieve her of her........."killer mood"
and on the walk way was this wonderful colorful creature........a salamander. I have seen them only a few times here........always after a heavy rain.
I scooped it up and rushed it inside for a "photo shoot"
and then returned it to it's soggy happiness outside.
The next late afternoon........on another walk with Sophie.........
this very large bobcat crossed our path just a bit beyond us.
We all stopped......to stare at each other.......the cat and us........
just long enough for me to snap ......not a very good picture........
and then it quickly went on it's way.
How lucky I feel to have seen both unique creatures in the space of just a few hours!
Sophie has since re- made friends with her worn out teddy bear and
has it in her bed.........where she is sleeping.
So tell me...........does your dog get overly rough with it's toys?
What creatures are popping up in your back yard?

I'm sure Sophie has no idea what happened....neat to see wildlife out there eh?
Sophie is so funny. I have seen that exact refusal to look from our dogs, each in his or her turn. Miss Lady destroys everything she gets her teeth on, including some of the quilts that live here. The others are older and wiser.
I'm glad your view of the cat did not include having to run for your life!
Our little Cappy still has her original blanket in her bed, amazingly she's never even chewed a hole. Can't say that about any other dog we've had! I always enjoy coming to your blog to see your critters! I've only seen one bobcat here in my neck of the woods. Luckily you had your camera.
Pretty little salamander; I found one under some old wood once. I think it's the only one I've seen. I suppose the bob cat was afraid of you and Sophie too. I worry that I will come up on a wild hog around here!
You have some pretty amazing wild life where you live, and it looks like Sophie occasionally thinks she is part of the WILD life too. At least her teddy bear does.
My dogs all play too rough with soft toys and none of their toys has ever lasted long enough for the dogs to be attached to them. I'd say tennis balls and sticks get them excited the most, after food and my attention.
haha! Kathleen, isn't it so funny that our doggies know when they've done something they shouldn't! Perhaps Sophie was wishing she could have gotten ahold of that bobcat out there and shook it til its stuffings were coming out. She's just reminding you that she can be a terror if need be! So cute!
Pretty salamander, too! I've yet to see one around here, altho I see plenty of blue-tailed skinks running around my house! And the sticky little green frogs like to cling to the siding on the house. They're very cute, but they leave little poops that stick, too! Have a wonderful day!
Sophie made me laugh! How can anyone say that animals aren't smart????
I'm a little creeped out by your bob cat. I think we have them here, and I do get nervous about it because of my geese. I bring my geese inside for the night, but it looks like your bob cats are out in the day time.....Your salamander is gorgeous. We have the little orange ones. I'm always helping them get across the road.
Ha! Sophie looks guilty to me. Poor teddy bear. So amazing for you to see the salamander and the bobcat. The most exotic animal I've seen in my back yard was a groundhog (not exotic at all, I'm afraid).
LOL!
Sophie reminds me of my almost two year old great grandson. He'll look at you, and you know he's saying "Just wait and see what I do next!" :)
Haven't seen any wildlife around here, but saw some coyote's down in the forest a while back.
Sophie sure is a cute dog. Wow! The bob cat photo was something else. I loved the lovely colors on the salamander. I hope you are well and not getting those floods in Texas.
Sophie may have been feeing neglected and acted out a bit. :-) They are so much like kids! :-) Love that salamander. My grandson would have been thrilled to find one like that! We have lizards here of the more arid-climate kind of course. And the bobcat! Wow! Last year as we were returning from Colorado where we took our grandson, we were about 200 miles from home and one crossed the road. I couldn't get to my camera fast enough to get a picture. It was thrilling. I had never seen one in the wild before that day.
When still a puppy, my dog Mickey used to break my mother's flower pots. Now he's an obedient dog but his worst fears are lightning and firecrackers.
