The sky turned dark and I could hear a terrible rumbling of thunder...........

another day of rain out of the many days we had already had.........
but as you know........rain here is cherished......
so I didn't worry about the dark that came over the house........and settled in for a long day of stitching........
until friends started texting and calling.......as well as my husband..........who was at work.........
asking if everything  was okay............
little did I know that this is what everyone else was seeing........
just east of where we live..........but way too close.........I had no idea!.......... Thankfully, it had a lot of bare land.........to land in......and no damage was done.

I am not located in East Texas or  close to Dallas where the terrible flooding and tornadoes did their damage.........my heart and prayers go out to everyone who does live there,......

.however, the areas surrounding our home got their share of an overload of rain.
This is on the side of the highway heading to Lubbock.............there is a cotton field out there somewhere.

This is the highway.........and it was scary driving through the water..........

and then seeing this between the highway lanes.  It wasn't long after this, that the highway was closed and we were detoured around it all.

We are due to another few days of rain.  The grounds here are still muddy........but covered in
acre

after acre of wildflowers.  I literally have a wildflower farm at this moment
and I didn't plant any of them.

Gertrude is standing deep in wildflowers and has still managed to hang onto her dress and her hat through all of the wind and rain. .
Inside............baby Taboo is still keeping everyone in the house entertained.
So how are all of you ......dear readers?
Have you been hit by the storms?
Here's hoping that all of you are safe and out of harms way.

I am so glad you weren't impacted by the tornado! One thing I can say for Michigan, we don't get a lot of disastrous weather, not much chance of earthquakes, and only occasional tornados. My heart goes out to the areas that are so badly affected. Your wildflowers are amazing! Hang tight. I'll be praying you don't get any more scary weather!

Your wildflowers are awesome. I sure hope everyone is ok with the storms raging across the country. I'm glad you didn't get any tornado. I pray no more bad weather will strike.

Mother Nature is to be feared! So glad that tornado missed you. We've had storms recently, but nothing severe. Fingers crossed it stays that way for us all.

So thankful you did not get any damage. My heart goes out to so many who are struggling with natural disasters currently. Your wildflowers are so colorful. Go Gertrude...good for her hanging on in all that bad weather! Love the last photo...so sweet. Makes my heart happy. Georgia has been blessed with very nice weather. Take care. xo

I see that throughout the years you're a lady who keeps things in perspective. yes there are storms and tragedies . But even in the midst of them there are blossoms & blessings, and always something to keep one's hands and mind busy. ( Needlework & helping others ! )

I am glad to read the only thing you suffered is a lot of rain & mud that helped the wild flowers bloom and caused only a bit of difficulty with travel. Good weather for embroidery projects.

Hi there, So glad the tornado skipped your home and that it wasn't near you. Seven years ago, a tornado ripped through our small town and although no lives were lost, there was so much damage. We lose windows, fences and a roof.
I would choose a tornado over an earthquake any day though. We are in the weirdest weather pattern-lots of rain and flooding.
I'm ready for spring/summer.
Love the wild flowers
Hugs, Noreen

I am so glad that your home was spared and my heart and prayers go out for all who have to go through these horrific storms.

I love your wildflowers, and the fact that you didn't plant any of them.

How amazing that Gertrude did NOT lose her hat in the stormy weather.

Hope your weather stays calm and the flooding recedes.

Enjoy the rest of your week ~ FlowerLady

So glad you are ok! Fortunately, here in northern Michigan we really don't get tornadoes. Your flowers are beautiful and I love that precious little furry baby, Taboo!

Holy Crap...I hope I never look out of my window and see that!

We are cat-less right now and really need to think about getting one. I keep waiting for a stray to cross our path. That's how we've gotten them before.

Taboo is sweet!

I pray for all the people in the way of these massive storms. Glad it didn't come your way. Wow the wildflowers are so impressive. Had to laugh at the mention of Gertrude. Nice to end with a pic of the animals playing in spite of all the turmoil.

Oh, Kathleen, how happy you must be when you look out on all those beautiful wildflowers! We have had a lot of rain, too, but no flooding at our home, thank God! The plants and trees are sure loving all that rain though.

Thank goodness you were spared with the tornado! They are the scariest thing of mother nature, in my opinion. Of course, we live in FL and every year that a hurricane doesn't hit, we are so very thankful.

Take care. I hope you don't have to drive through water again.

Stay safe! Our son and family live in Houston, and are fortunate to be just outside the flooding. Not a fun time!

Wow...Kathleen! My heart has been going out to all my Texas friends (and even a little family) in Texas and I have worried about you all. I know Texas is a big state, and some areas were hit much worse than others. We used to live in Ledbetter, near Giddings which is halfway between Houston and Austin, but many years before that we lived in Lubbock, and even before that (in the 70s) we lived in Houston. I am so shocked you didn't know about the tornado, but in a way it was a blessing! Your area is getting soaked, even though you aren't in the epicenter of all that...I should say WAS since this post is a couple of weeks old. I am so behind, but I stay that way! :-) I am glad it wasn't any worse for you!
