It has been a worrisome time in Texas

when rain has been prayed for , longed for, and so appreciated,...........
it has now turned into a hope and a prayer for the rains to stop.
Memorial Day morning a severe rain storm thundered its way into our area. The lightening danced all over the grounds Although we got buckets of rain,  our property did not get flooded like so many in central and south Texas, but our roads can't handle heavy unending rain.  My son was heading home from work and like so many times never worries about going through a patch of water........until that morning. Before he knew it, his car died and water surrounded him. I am on the phone with him during this and as he gets out of his car for safety, he falls into the water and all I can hear on the phone is wind and garbled noise...........I was so frightened as I yelled to him over the phone with no response. My husband was (thankfully) home that day so he heads out to find our son.  Which he did.  And they both returned home safely. Later that afternoon, we drove down to see if we could "fish" the car out and all of the water had drained, leaving the car in a mushy swamp ditch.
Have you ever seen the show Michael.......when all 3 journalists are sitting by the side of a road with a flat tire?.......if you have, you will know what I am talking about.
Here we 3 are, my husband, my son, and myself..........without a soul in sight........looking at this sunken car............
when out of nowhere..........a man in a jeep pulls up and says " need a hand? I have a wench!"
And in 5 minutes, he had my son's car out onto the road. LOL
Even better............the car started.............blowing debris, water, and mud from the tail pipe and my son drove it home ........as it poured out water all of the way.
He has been driving back and forth to work in it since.............one tough car........one lucky guy!

The next day , as I sat waiting for my husband to fuel up his never ending hungry truck,
I watched a gigantic storm brewing.............

movement caught my attention to see this very elderly woman walk up and sit right down in the dirt by the busy street...............taking off her jacket
........my heart saddened at watching her ........I wondered........

what storms must be brewing in her life...........where is her door to hang a wreath on?
I turned at a noise behind me...........seeing loud happy teens in a hurry........
when I looked back at where she was.........
she was gone.  I scanned up and down the street and could not spot her.
That night, I thought about her and said a little prayer for God to walk beside her........
wherever she may be.

Although I have not tilled the gardens due to soggy soil..........
the wildflowers are still blooming, the paradise tree is brilliant in color

and the flower beds are full of colorful Larkspur that I planted last early fall.

And then there is .......Taboo
who is growing more and more every day and becoming more dear to my heart each moment.
How about you?
Are you facing severe weather and storms in your area?
or are you facing even bigger storms in your life?
I hope this finds you..........wherever you are........
in peace and safe.

Hello Kathleen,

Your part of the country has certainly received some rain. So pleased your Son was OK and thankful someone came along to help you. Enjoy the flowers that will most likely be blooming for months.

Happy days.
Bev.

Well there is a case of "it never rains but it pours" if ever I've heard of one! It's a miracle that your son's car was unstuck so easily and an even bigger miracle that it wasn't ruined. Praying that the rains pass and leave a rainbow of refilled ponds and lakes and water tables. Your flowers will, no doubt, be extra beautiful this year from all the rain :)

So glad you have been spared the worst of the flooding. What a wonderful thing for that man to show up when you all needed him, with his jeep and a wench.

Your flowers are pretty and your little critter a real heart stealer.

Have a lovely day ~ FlowerLady

So thankful that your son is safe and that his car still works! We've been getting a lot of rain here but in reasonable increments. Sad to hear of so many casualties and lossed in the storms this year. Glad your hous is safe. I wonder what was the story behind that little lady in the photos.

It was interesting to read about your storm problems after hearing so much on TV about the flooding in Texas. We haven't experienced flooding but our hay fields are still much too wet and threats of rain every day keep us frustrated. Grass will soon catch up with the corn and beans in the garden; they're turning yellowish from lack of sun and too much rain. I think what bothers me most is the fact that some places need rain so badly and others are flooded. But, then you show little Taboo and a smile comes over me and I know God will take care of us. At least I'm having time to catch up on some projects in the sewing room.

Oh, I can only imagine you talking with your son; having that happen and the thoughts that ran through your mind. So thankful he's okay and the car? That's really nothing short of a miracle that it started, and kept going on! This brings to mind once when I was young, and on the way from work to pick my daughter up from 1st grade. The water came up under the floorboards and yet the car didn't stall. I finally got to her and she was the last one left at school. I know she must have fretted so.

All that rain; I keep seeing pictures and hearing about lives lost. So very sad. I too wonder about the woman you mentioned. I hope she's okay. :(

I've been keeping up on the news in Texas, so very sad for so many. I'm glad your son made it out okay, God provided! Though I don't know her, my heart aches for some reason for the lady by the road. I pray too that she is fine, and safe.
Out of it all, springs beauty as your gardens confess. Stay well and safe Kathleen, and bless your little buddy too!

It does feel a bit like monsoon season here, doesn't it? I'm just thankful for a respite in between storms for the rain to drain away at least a little. I'm thankful your son is all right. That could have been so bad. God is faithful!k

Your flowering plants, like mine, obviously are enjoying all the rain.

Like many others, we are saddened by the devastating flooding that we witness on tv. So thankful your son was safe and that help arrived just when you needed it. The elderly lady looks so lost/forlorn. May God bless her.
Love seeing your wildflowers and sweet Taboo. What a precious bundle of love!
God bless your evening.

Hi, I've prayed for all those dealing with the floods in Texas. As you may know, here in Colorado we've had our share of rain and more rain that caused flooding. In May we had 22 out of 24 days of solid rain. So glad that you weren't impacted directly and that your son was ok.
Hugs,
Noreen

What a frightening experience, so glad all turned out well with your son and his car. My husband was on a flight that was suppose to land in Dallas last Tues. but the airport was closed due to severe storms & he spent the night in Omaha Neb. Here in southern Mo, we have been on the very edge of this crazy weather so we are fine, but I have been thinking of several bloggers south of me. Lets hope you get some badly need sunshine!

My thoughts and prayers are with you in Texas. I'm so glad your son was not injured. Glad you aren't getting floods directly where you live. I am praying the rain and floods, storms will end in Texas.

I live very close to all the destruction the news is talking about. I, myself, almost a month ago when all the rains started, was faced with driving through a road over run with water. It took me two days to get over the anxiety of that day. Luckily, I went through the water with the sheriff's department guiding all of us stuck on that road. It is still raining today. I have never experienced anything like this, except for the occasional hurricanes. The Colorado and Brazos Rivers are out of their banks. I'm so glad you are all safe. So many have lost everything.

Hopefully the weather is better by now...just hope it doesn't get too hot and dry this summer. I love all the flowers, even the wild ones, and sweet Taboo, too!

Oh my! I've been wondering how you are doing there. I'm glad your son is safe and was able to get his car back even if it did have water in it.

What an amazing story, a true story. I am so glad all is well with your son, his car. I wonder if you had a sweet angel appear in the guise of someone who just had the right stuff to get your son's car out of the water.

My heart hurts for the elderly lady you saw. Her story must be a sad one.

Taboo is just so cute. In the midst of so much that is almost tragic, a small kitten can make us smile every time.

So sad about that older lady...it broke my heart seeing the pictures, and wondering what she must be going through right now. I am so glad your son was ok!!! How wonderful God sent an angel to come tow his car out! When we lived in Lubbock when our daughter was small and there would be terrible snow storms my hubby would drive out in his jeep and pull people out of ditches with his winch. :-) You all have been going through so much! I know you are thankful your family is safe!
