Come to the meadows
With me and play.
Put on your dresses
Of red and gold;
For summer is past,
And the days grow cold.
Soon as the leaves
Heard the wind's loud call,
Down they came fluttering,
One and all.
Over the meadows
They danced and flew,
All singing the soft
Little songs they knew.
Dancing and flying,
The leaves went along,
Til Winter called them
To end their sweet song.
Soon, fast asleep
In their earthy beds,
The snow lay a coverlet
O'er their heads.

Just beautiful - photos and poem. I had not seen that one in many years, so thank you for posting. Happy memories.
Lovely photos, Kathleen, and I enjoyed the poem too! Happy Fall to you too! :-)
Oh what a precious little poem! Thanks for sharing with me.
Wonderful post and photos ! Our leaves aren't dancing today they are all wet and soggy from the rains ! Thanks for sharing , have a good week !
I have never heard this poem and I love it! Our leaves have just begun to fall a little here and there, no big piles yet for which I am grateful. I prefer them to sing their little songs in the trees for a bit longer:>)
Lovely post. Now how did you get that dog to sit still for a photo shoot? It is very cute...
Ahhhhhhh, that's sweet!
Beautiful photos on this Autumn post as well!
