More wild creatures have come to visit the grounds.......

all of them in search of water.  It is starting to get very dry here

and the bird bath is the hot spot for local wild life to come take a sip.

I have seen wild turkeys in front of our property at times, but this is the first time I have seen one come for a visit so close to the house.

I think this is a young male turkey as he has red growths along his neck.  I hope he stays around as long as he likes.

Up the drive, looking like a wild piece of shag rug running along the ground,

was this beautiful badger. It came for a drink

and left as quickly as it had arrived.

The rabbits like to come and sit in the tall grass in the late afternoon.

I think wild cotton tails are so pretty .........
don't you?
So tell me..........
what kind of interesting creatures are visiting your back yard?
I would love to hear!

The badger is cute, the turkeys interesting, but the rabbit, WOW, his ears, and a look that says so much, a super photo. Cheers, Jean.

What a blessing you are to the creatures of the world who just need a quick drink as they journey along. No backyard here. And the birds don't seem to visit my balcony as much as they used to. As it gets hotter, ants become a real problem. If I don't water the plants enough, the ants all of a sudden will take up residence and then emerge when I do water them. Have seen a few lizards lately so have to remember to close the door when Jingles is out there or she'll be running in with one to chase around the living room. :/ Have a great day. Tammy

It is wonderful that you are providing water for all the critters to drink as it is the very survival thing we all need.
That is one big bunny.
Have a great weekend and enjoy your wild group of visitors.

Great pictures, Kathleen! I always like to see what is happening in your back yard. Since I live in the city now, the only creatures I see in my back yard are a few birds and a squirrel occasionally. I liked the way you described the badger. :)

"It is starting to get dry"...too early, not even summer yet, to hear such words. We regularly see wild turkeys here; nice critters to have around. And, yes I do love the wild cotton tails...love those big pretty eyes!

I just love seeing your place! It seems so different from what I'm used to here. I didn't know you had badgers! They are beautiful, but I think I would be afraid of one!
I hope you get some rain soon!

Since the dogs were dumped on us, no critters come into the yard except an occasional skunk. Even the purple martin birds, came and then left. But at least the deer haven't eaten the flowers ~ yet.
