I can feel the results in my bones as the day gets ready to rest..........
and there is much on my heart and mind to go with it.
but it all resolves and dissolves
as I find comfort in the golden hued hours and solitude of the late afternoon.
There is a peacefulness to the woods that surround the house...........
as it lies over......
soft and comforting...........
like a warm blanket.
In my silence I watch a rabbit hop about in the dry yellow brush......
in search for something green to munch on.
A dove coos and calls out to it's mate as it finds a final roosting place
in the crooked mesquite tree, that is lit up with the late afternoon sun.
In the midst of this.............
one could never know that it was such a hurried and hectic day
All is still.
Sophie who has been out with me through much of this day,
finds comfort even in the hard bricks on the porch .
Tomorrow, the sun will shine, the harsh wind may blow,
and the wolf might come knocking on the door,
bringing life's uncertainties along with it,
but there is assurance that all is well at the end of the day.
I have faith in that.........
and sometimes......faith is all one needs.

There is much comfort in the serenity of the day.
I find the shapes of the majestic trees that surround your house very intriguing...
Sophie surveys the land intently watching for those coyotes.
Thank you so much for the kind comments you left in regards to my daughter.

Wonderful peaceful pictures, Kathleen. I especially like the one of your rocking chair on the porch. Looks like a great place to sit and watch the end of the day approach. I hope you are having a good week. :)
Hi there, Love seeing your land-so beautiful!!! I love quiet days when we can putter around doing whatever we need to do.
I'd love to grab a glass of tea and visit with you!

Five o'clock in the afternoon usually finds me getting a bit sad for some reason. I think I wonder, "Did I make the best of the time God gave me today?" Your post was very thought provoking.
I would love to sit with Sophie and enjoy the stillness.l
Your front porch is so inviting. A lovely place to end the day.
blessings, jlll
To have peace at the end of a day is a blessing.
Thank you for sharing the lovely peacefulness that surrounds you there.

We used to spend most of the warm weather days working outside in the garden or on the house, the end of day was always a welcome treat to sit and relax often in silence.
Isn't it wonderful to be content just where you are! We've been hearing bird song (mockingbirds, I think) every night lately. It is so peaceful to go to sleep with a birdly lullaby. Sophie reminds me of Bruno - wherever we are, there they are. Got to love that!
Love the dappled sunlight in your pictures and the peachfulness at the end of the day.

I love your front porch and lovely evening photos and the woods look so peaceful. You have a lovely home. You are so right about faith. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Whew- I know what you mean. But it's amazing how much a beautiful sunset can calm everything down!
I love your checkers table! I'm trying to find an old whiskey barrel so we can put a checkers board on it!
One of the sweetest, most peaceful posts I have ever read. Lovely thoughts and photos. I just wanted to join you on the porch, and sit and not say anything! That is almost a lost art!
Lovely post.
Faith, what would I do without faith ? To know that no matter our life circumstances God is in control and allows into our lives what He will, knowing He also gives us the strength to not only endure hard times, but be joyful in spite of them...
Nice post Kathleen!
