I can feel fall is on it's way. I cant explain this feeling, no matter how many words I try to write down about it..............
it's like trying to describe the colors in the morning sunrise to someone who cannot see and has never seen color before.............but I know that many of you probably know what I am talking about and have felt this same "feel in the air".........haven't you?
All through early spring and summer, I have flowers sprouting and blooming, but they all seem to be doing their best during this time of year and all the way up to November. The rose moss is bursting in all colors.
And overflowing in all containers.
I love using old kitchen ware, such as this rusted old roasting pan to plant rose moss in.
The morning glory is growing and climbing on everything that stands still long enough. From the old vintage fencing.............
to the gnarled and crooked mesquite trees..........
and up against walls.............blooming in all wonderful colors of soft blue
striking white............
and alluring pinks.
On the front porch sits my poinsettia that I have had since this past Christmas. It had begun to look tired and tattered right after February , so I placed it into a larger pot with fertilized soil and place it out on the front porch..................and left it alone. Only watering it when it started to look droopy. The porch is shaded in this spot.............although the temperature can reach up to the 100's. So I am surprised that this plant has held on. I am hoping that by Christmas it will once again turn to it's "Christmas" color. This is a pink poinsettia, so I guess it won't really be a Christmas color and I wonder how much longer it will live.
Out by the chicken yard, grows a long line of sunflowers.
One flower that always amazes me is the sunflower. It can take the harshest wind, the thickest dirt and the hottest sun ............
and still look vibrant.
And before you ask.............yes, I planted my Zinnia gardens this year. They are starting to get tall
and to show off their heady blossoms. There are still quite a few more extreme hot days left for this area in Texas................but I am excited to feel the change in the air because fall is my favorite time of year.
How about you?
Are you feeling the change in the seasons?
Are you getting cooler days and nights?
What is blossoming in your garden?
I would love to hear!

Your flowers look great! I can also tell a change is coming even though it is very hot here too. I guess it is the chilly nights.
I do know what you mean, and I can at times feel that promise of fall in the air. And I am thankful. I think it is God's mercy telling us to hold on just a little longer and relief will be here.
Yes, I can feel a change; the sun is lazy in the mornings, coming up much later, and going down earlier in the evenings. The days are still in the 90s and the grasses are trying their best to make one last batch of seeds.
I hope you are right and fall is in the air although the weather man had 100 degree days the rest of the week. Our evenings are a little cooler now and I do notice it when I put the dog out before bedtime. The hot weather is really hard on pets.
You sure have a wonderful sunset there on the prairie and you do have a green thumb that is for sure. I so hope to plants some sunflowers next spring, I do love the way they follow the sun. Do you have to put the poinsettia in the dark for a month to get it to turn? Not up on that plant at all.
GOD keep you safe!
Yes, "the feel" is definitely in the air, especially early and late in the day. We are in the midst of another late heat wave, but we know it can't last long. Your flowers are beautiful...love all the bright colors!
Hi Kathleen! Love your flowers, they are beautiful. Our days have been getting cooler off sooner toward evening than they have in awhile. I am looking forward to fall.
I am finally beginning to feel the change of season here. It has been unusually warm and muggy for our area, and this weather has taken its' toll on our gardens. ( Plus, I am simply wilting )my favorite season is just around the corner though and I get a little bit excited about it.
Your flowers amaze me. How they thrive and flourish in such hot climate is , well, amazing. I think you also thrive and bloom here too.
Morning glories are so amazing.
Humble, simple and they keep going no matter what - just are not bothered by much ! (sounds like how I want to be ! ;)
Love your flower pics.

Kathleen, your flowers look amazing! For some reason, I can't grow sunflowers. I don't know why???? Got any good tips????? As for the weather here in Northern Illinois, it's been hot and humid with little rain, but I do feel the change in the air. I always do this time of the year. I'm itching to decorate for Halloween!
Wonderful photos. I jealous of your morning glory's. Mine don't want to bloom.
We had a brief seasonal change over the weekend when cooler air came to the VA eastern shore. This week, the humidity returned and with it some rain showers.
I love how mother nature lets us know change is in the air.
Blessings!

Hi Kathleen... Long time no visit! Yes, I have felt "it", too. If you live in one place very long, you learn to recognize "it". The earth has shifted, the sun is in a different place and slanted lower in the sky - not quite as bright. Though still hot, sometimes the breeze is coming out of the north. The Virginia creeper is scarlet now, and the stinkbugs are laying their eggs on the siding on my house. It's that time of year. AND a couple of my chickens are molting. Your flowers are beautiful as usual. I adore your zinnias. I planted quite a few of them, but only a handful made it. Thanks for checking on me in my long absences! Have a great week!
Hello Kathleen! I really enjoyed your beautiful photos and hearing about what is blooming there. I love the sunflowers and moss roses the best, I think.
