and large bees, and butterflies spend
their days drinking up the nectar
and buzzing in and out.
Large lady bugs are in and out of the Brussels sprouts in the garden.
I have experimented more with cement............making mosaic garden stones.
I used real tree limbs for the tree .
I call this piece,
the Autumn Tree
I have also started working with color in the cement. While watching a documentary on the Grand Canyon, I was in awe of the beautiful layers of color within the walls. This inspired me to make this planter..............
and I finally figured out how to make a drain hole! Now these containers are very useful in my garden decor.
I also want to make a path to the pond. I am going to make a stone pathway like the one I showed you a couple of posts back, without the flower mosaics. But in the middle, I want to stagger these fish. I think they will make a great and interesting walk out to the pond.
Don't you?
The weather turned damp and chilly today, but by Thursday, it will once again be warm.
How about you?
What's blooming in your garden?
Do you have and creatures buzzing or fluttering about the petals?
I would love to hear!

Hi Kathleen!
Your flowers are just gorgeous. And I really love the Autumn Tree stepping stone. What a great idea.
We're having warm days then sunny like you. Oh, I'm so glad to be outside again. Have a great day!
No blooms ~ just another cold morning with clouds and rain in the forecast.
Your cement work is interesting. Do you have a mold or do you just shape them with your hands?
Wow! I adore the artwork you've been making, especially that cement circle with the tree using real branches! How lovely and absolutely genius. I haven't stopped by here in a long time and I'm sorry for that. You have such a lovely blog. I was so sorry to read about your chickens. Many Blessings to you ~ I hope you enjoy a lovely Spring! :)
Your flowers are so beautiful. I see why the bees are so attracted. The stepping stone is amazing. Very nice. We had snow again last night. Looking so forward to warm days.
Yes, I think the random fish are such a good idea, very appropriate. I just love your outlook and optimism too~

Kathleen, I love what you're doing with the cement. You are so talented! And it's always fun to make something totally new, isn't it?

Your cement work is wonderful. Love the colors and the tree. Your flowers are beautiful too.
Hello Kathleen, We are still looking for warmer weather as we are waiting to view flowers pushing up through the soil from their long winters sleep! I'm sure they are ready, too!
Warmer days will be here soon.
Delightful blog and post, I will visit you again, soon!
Carolyn :)
Your pansies are so pretty, Kathleen! They are one of my favorites. I love the mosaic cement.
Hello Kathleen,
You are making some beautiful items with your cement work. I would have made that one with the wood/tree into a wall plaque.
Have fun with it.
Happy days.

Hi Kathleen - Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. I went to 'a needle in my hand and read all the recent posts and then linked to 'eggs in my pocket' and read all those recent posts and then thought I think I found a new friend! We not only share a passion for handiwork but gardening as well. I too moved from the city out to the country but unfortunately still commute in to work. Given that I do have to work for a few more years, my garden expansion is slow and my dream for a yard of chickens will not happen until I retire. I am excited to find your blogs and will be checking back often.

Wow! Your lovely spring photos and flowers are awesome. Spring sure is lovely at your home. We are having daffodils and Bradford pear trees and forsythia blooming her and some tulips. I sure look forward to warm days and spring.
So much to admire in your garden...flowers blooming and wonderful cement creations. Thanks for the inspiration...I just might give it a try!
Oh you have inspired me once again! I have to try that mosaic!!
Kathleen, your flowers are ahead of ours, but with warmer weather the lawn wildflowers are in full bloom. The stonework is looking great.
ok you need to do a blog post on those concrete planters - they are wonderful and I'd like to try something like that - I am sick of paying the ridiculous prices for nothing special containers at home improvement/garden stores!!
Your garden is beautiful and I have some of the same flowers blooming
Your Grand Canyon inspired planter is beautiful ! I think you should continue on making planters like this.
Your flowers are so pretty. Your weather is a very drastic difference from ours. I love seeing the varied weather across our nation through bloggers' eyes and posts.
Your flowers are so beautiful, Kathleen.. and I love your mosaic garden stone! You are so creative, my friend. :)
I think we all have Spring Fever! And, posts like this make it a reality. Wonderful inspiration!
Springtime Hugs,

Hi, I just found your beautiful blog! Interesting landscape and so different from what I'm used to in Italy or in Finland. Must try making coloured cement bowls myself. Thanks for the hint.
You are so clever, Theresa! I have been thinking about making paving stones, and you have really inspired me! I also LOVE the planter...hmmmm. :-) Great job on both! I love them both! And such a lovely post, with the busy bees. Great photos!
The Autumn Tree is very pretty indeed!. I'm enjoying your updates regarding your experiments with cement. Keep them coming:)
