we like to take a long walk, especially when the weather is pretty.
Much of the prairie is turning brown...........but I had to smile as I saw this weed showing off it's red and green leaves..........
as if it were doing like we do........decorating after Thanksgiving, for Christmas.
The cactus along the barbed wire fence joined in with it's colors as well.
It was such a pleasant walk............until this rolled out onto the road..........
scaring, Sophie dog. She could not figure out what kind of animal it was, but because it was rolling along, it must be dangerous.
This is the time that tumbleweeds, do what they do best............
tumble along.
Then they all go to where all good tumbleweeds go..........
stuck on the barbed wire fence until the winds blow them off into another direction. This can go on for quite some time.
On our way back, this group of ants were busy at work.........putting their thanksgiving leftovers away.
As the day ended..........we took a late night walk out along the paths of the woods..........
and then back to our yard to sit out around the fire. Sophie is still looking for
that "tumbleweed monster".
How about you?
How was your Thanksgiving day?
Were you surrounded by family and friends?
Do you watch movies, play games, or go for long walks?
I would love to hear!

Lovely photos that tell the story of a day to remember, from start to end.I do like the last photo, looking for something that isn't there!! Cheers from Jean
Nothing exciting here. Just three of us to eat, afterwards, I relaxed (read was lazy) the rest of the day. Well, not really, I got almost all the dishes washed and the kitchen cleaned up and the turkey bones cooked down for broth. And I watched "Little Women" for the first time! It was very good.
I loved this post-as always it's fun to see such different landscapes and plants....
The best part of Thanksgiving for me is being with my family. The next best is having blog friends!
Thank you for sharing pictures of your surroundings which are so much different from ours.
I like to play games after we eat, but the grandchildren are growing up; only three of the six were with us, the older ones more or less out on their own. But we did get to see all of our girls. It was a good day, all in all.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had vegetable lasagna and a big salad - and watched our favorite Christmas movie, "Bernard and the Genie."
Love the photos of your after dinner walk.
Looks like a beautiful day, Kathleen, and how neat that even the weeds are decorating your neck of the woods! Poor Sophie, I think it would startle me, too.
I often miss my West Texas holidays but finding new ways to celebrate without DH and with dear friends. Enjoyed baking frenzy then relaxed and elegant meal with friends.
BTW - my Odessa/Midland family just made the move to Lubbock - further from me but better for them.
Loved these pictures~ but poor Sophie... I would imagine that mean old tumbleweed looked pretty intimidating to her!
No tumbleweed monsters, but we did have some delish vittles! :D
I was happy to see your comment on my post about Ivy this morning. Thank you for visiting me. I'm looking forward to keeping up with you over the Christmas month and in the New Year!
Debbie
that lady in the country kitchen picture over there on your sidebar looks so much like my Grandma! I had to just stare at it. :) We always take a long walk after Thanksgiving dinner too. Makes room for dessert. :) Love that cute photo of your dog with the leaves on his face. Made me smile. Have a wonderful week. xo Lynn@thevintagenest
I love tagging along on walks with you, Kathleen. I really enjoyed seeing things through your eyes. No tumbleweeds here. We did have a nice visit with my brother and his family though. Have a great week ahead!
I really enjoy reading about your prairie life. Thank you for sharing with us.
We spent Thanksgiving in CT visiting with family and sharing dinner. We babysat the grandkids in RI on "Black Friday" as both parents had to work that day. We did not go near a sale or store and bought nothing and that suited us just fine.
Oh, Kathleen, I've gotten so far behind again! Loved this interesting post! You have a Christmas cactus blooming! How nice. Loved the tumbleweed. :-)
