There is an iron skillet with fresh baked corn bread

sitting on the stove to cool, now in the oven is a large pan of country fried chicken, sizzling away. A pot of red beans is simmering on top of the stove, and to go with all of this is a creamy dish of Baked Creamed Corn.  The recipe is on my cooking blog...........My Country Kitchen..................
my cooking blog, that has been long, long,  neglected...............I haven't posted a recipe there in ages!
Many of you already know that I have a cooking blog, but for those of you who don't and want a taste of good country cooking, just click onto the link above and visit awhile! There is also a link on my sidebar if you want to come back and visit in the future.
I cook constantly............all throughout the day. I always like to try new desserts and breads, and I am always in search of something different to feed my family.  Somehow, through all of this cooking, I have let my cooking blog go to sleep. So today, there is a new recipe.
Do any of you have corn from your gardens............or do you love corn and have some cream style corn ready? I have a wonderful, creamy recipe for Baked Creamed Corn, that is just the best with any dish you decide to make!
How about you?
Do you have a different way of preparing corn for a meal?
I would love to hear!

Wow!! I'll be right over for that meal!!

We were unable to have corn in the garden this year; it looked pitiful so I just pulled it up. We haven't even had one dish of okra this year!! Sure will miss those good home grown veggies in the freezer this winter.

Girl, this is right up my ally. First off, I bet your kitchen smells wonderful!

Somehow I ended up with 3 LARGE bags of organic frozen corn in the freezer, I need to use it before it burns. I will head over to your cooking blog to see what you have one hand for them. Here I live in the south and have never made cream corn.....I need to whisper that or I will run out of town and I do not drink sweet tea. BUT I sure need a recipe for corn. I did make a big skillet of corn bread and put loads of corn in it.

This year we were very blessed to find some beautiful corn at the Farmers Market..and ended up with two bushels of it for the freezer..I have a different way of putting it away..I just cut off the ends and tips and leave at least 3 slips of husk on it , (that protects it from freezer burn) when ready to cook, I let it sit in cold water for a few minutes and that makes it easier to then remove the husks and silk before cooking ....

It sounds delicious at your house, Kathleen, and I bet it smells delicious too! I love cornbread, especially hot and fresh from the oven. :)

Sounds good! We had some cornbread from our iron skillet for lunch, too. I just have to have some cornbread at least once a week. It's a necessity. LOL

I was smart enough to plant some corn early in our little garden. We harvested and enjoyed it before the worst of the heat and drought hit. There is just nothing like fresh from the garden. Nothing.

Have you ever had fried corn? I had never heard of it until a friend cooked it. I can't remember exactly how she did it, but I always wonder if other people have ever had it!!

I love corn. I like corn kababs and sweet corn soup very very much. In india , we also get roasted corn on the streets that are marinated with spicy sauces...Yum!

Best,
Suma.

Hello Kathleen,

Oh corn would have to be a favourite vegie. I don't usually grow it because one hot easterly wind will wipe out the crop. It uses a lot of water which has got so expensive lately. Enjoy your home cooked meal.
Happy days.

Sounds yummy! My husbands Mom used to fix corn cut from the cob ( when there was left overs) then put it in a pot and add cream, a little flour to thicken and sugar. this is simple and yummy. take care, Kathleen, love,Diana

Kathleen, that supper sounds wonderful. Nothing like good home-made fried chicken, corn and beans AND homemade cornbread! What more could you ask for!

If I can remember, I will look for my corn spaghetti recipe. It's wonderful and my grown kiddos eat it up!

Oh, I love your good country meal! That's my idea of good food! I usually don't subscribe to cooking blogs, but I definitely will come by and visit. My Mom (Down the Rabbit Hole) is going to start one soon with all our old family recipes, so it sounds like I need to start getting on a few cooking blogs, including hers! We looked at a possible rental house yesterday, and unfortunately they wouldn't go for me having a pen with three chickens in the back yard! :-( So, if we get the house, I guess I have to give up on that idea. Living in Arizona is so DIFFERENT than what we are used to. :-)
