Sand dunes are surrounding the grounds

of the farm.........they remind me of the beach that we used to visit when our children were small. However, these dunes are from the cotton field that lies behind the farm. The high winds and severe drought has blown all of the dirt into the grounds here.

Somehow, the prairie flowers still burst forth,

their vibrant blossoms waiving in the wind.

Closer to the house, the flower and rock beds are showing new flowers sprouting in the sun.

I had meant for this to be a rock garden only, which in the winter it is,

but in the spring, the marigold, cosmos and mountain garland, work their way inbetween the rocks and

have found it to be the perfect spot to bloom. Here's hoping that where ever you are, the rain is not flooding, the sky is not storming, the dry brush is not catching on fire and that somewhere, you have found a safe and content spot to be in.

Thanks for the kind wishes, Kathleen. I'm thankful too that things have calmed down a little in the weather realm with the exception of the left over rain which is still causing a lot of flooding. Eager to see your blooms later.

Beautiful photos, Kathleen! We're actually getting a small shower right now and I LOVE it! I'm watching a robin outside frolicking in the damp.

Hi Kathleen! It's hard to believe it is so dry there when it is so wet in other places. Nice to see the flowers are still blooming, though. I hope you get some much-needed rain soon. :)

Thank you Kathleen. We're bein' blessed with some good soakin' rain right now. No flooding but we are way behind on our rain as I know you are, too, even more-so. I pray for rain, but I always ask the Lord to give it to those who need it most and if we get some showers that'll be just fine. There's folks that depend on the rain for a living, and I just want my little garden and grass to do well. My life doesn't depend on it.

So I'm thankful tonight that we got some of the rain that moved through. Have a wonderful rest of the week - I'm looking forward to your zinnias...

I am always in awe of the weather God brings to us, knowing it is still one of the forces man has not conquered or been able to predict.Guess this has helped me learn the hard way to "praise Him in the storm".

Lovely pictures of your property amidst the dunes.Blossoms in the desert, what you are to Him in the world.

I think it's lovely, Kathleen. I would love to send you just a part of our rain, or some of that water going down the delta land. I like KathyB's comment about what you are to Him.

As I was traveling around blogland, I happened upon your writings and the title of your blog caught my eye imediately because we are farmers and I quilt. Your posts are very interesting and I especially liked the poem about the clothesline. I'm putting you on my favorites list. Charlotte
