every day...........at least during the time I knew them.
My grandparents lived way out in the west Texas brush........the same way I do now.........and it is because of the visits to their house, all of the walks with my aunts through the woods, all of the memories formed around the white old house, surrounded with mesquite filled ranch land
and cotton fields that stretched as far as the eye can see, that my heart was forever filled with a longing to live the same way.
and cotton fields that stretched as far as the eye can see, that my heart was forever filled with a longing to live the same way.
No matter how many times I see a twisted old mesquite tree, or an endless cotton field, it makes me smile with the memory of my grandparents place. The dry, thorny, prairie that surrounds me at this time of year might be an eye sore to many...............
But to me, because of Frank and Pearl,.............. it is the sweetest place on earth. I wish I had got to know them better,.............and I wish I had gotten answers to questions like........... how hard was it to raise 13 children in the depression?..........and how did they feel about each other when they first met?....................so many questions, I wished I had asked, but being a busy youngster, I only loved to see them.........grandma and grandpa. Right when these things became important for me to know.............they had already long passed away. I have gotten some information from aunts and uncles...........but not like I would have from them.
How about you? What was your grandparents home like? Did you love to visit...........are you living the same way as they once did?
I would love to hear!

I loved to visit my Grandma and Grandpa too.I have sooo many memories of them. When I was there I was enveloped in love.
There are many questions I'll never get answers to everyone that could have given me answers are long time gone. Ginny
Yes..I do have fond memories of my Grandmother (my GF died when I was a toddler so don't remember him) I do remember how Christmas always was at her house and I try to do my Christmas's the same. We can't turn back time but we can enjoy our memories :)
How special (o:
I live not all that far from where I grew up and my Grandparents lived...but a different world still. So many more people and house and roads. My Grandfather was a coal miner and the mines are all closednow. I even have electricity...hee hee
Kathleen, I think it is wonderful that you can live the way your grandparents did the way you dreamed. It is neat to think of walking in their footsteps, so to speak. :)
I was very blessed to have both sets of grandparents to visit all the way to my adulthood. I don't live the way either set lived, but I have carried their values forward into my generation. I am so thankful for the godly heritage they passed on to me, and for the sound wisdom they imparted.
Visiting my grandma and grandpa in the country is one reason I'm in the country now (well, that and oh yes, dear husband too.. hehe). I fell in love with farm life way back then. Chickens, horses, pigs, and a beautiful & productive garden (what they had at various times). Does it get any better than that? :) Wonderful memories of your grandparents, and Frank and Pearl are just the most perfect names! I can almost picture them! -Tammy
