completely exhausted from the hurry pace of prepping, orders that never seemed to end, and the smell of hamburgers and fries still lingering on me. So tired, in fact, that the idea of finding a spot to close my eyes and to shut the rest of the world away, tempted me..................however, that doesn't happen, as there is so much to do when I arrive.................home
The second my feet step upon the porch, I see this, and all of my tiredness seems to melt away, and I am greeted by Salem, who has waited all day for me to return..........................home
I go out to walk the grounds and my tired eyes see a wonderful splash of color. The zinnia are dancing in the wind as if they were singing a welcome" home" song to me. What a pretty sight...............isn't it?
Out in the pumpkin patch...........everything is whispering.........."fall will soon be here"..........I am delighted to see the white Casper pumpkin I have planted. It is supposed to stay white, while having the regular orange pumpkin meat inside.
The decorative gourds are competing for my attention, showing off their spots, stripes and different colors, and making me feel so wonderful that I am "home".
Tonight I made homemade pasta for a meal of spaghetti, meatballs and bread sticks. Even though I cook all day at the diner, I don't bring food home from there. I want "comfort" food, ................food that says "you're home".

How about you? What image comes to your mind when you think of home?
What waits to greet you at the end of the day?
I would love to hear.

There is no place like "Home" wherever you rome! I feel your "tiredness" and miss your blogging..maybe you want to say goodbye to the second job and just take care of the first.."Home"

Salem is so pretty and what a welcome sight he must be on your arrival home. Love the Casper pumpkin - can't wait to see the inside!
When we return home from hours at the dr's office or therapy, we are greeted by 3 cats and a dog. They run in circles and bring us their toys and briefly we forget how weary we are!
so nice to come home, i agree.
Home is why I work. There is nothing like walking in the door and smelling my kitchen. The animals greet me and are so happy to see me. It makes the long hours I am away working worth it all.
Well, Kathleen, I tried to post and it failed... I'll try again!
I love coming home to my family - and if they're not here, then I love looking at their photos smiling back at me!
Pasta is one of my comfort foods, too, along with oatmeal and real soft scrambled eggs. You're making me hungry!
Good to see you!
No place like home is there?! And to be greeted by joy and beauty and comfort...the best! :D
When I get home from work I see MORE WORK! But you know what!!! That isn't work but a labor of love!
(Sometimes it all overwhelms me, but I jut tell myself...this day does end and I can start all over tomorrow.)

Kathleen, you've echoed my feelings elegantly. Home is just so welcoming and so perfect for me. It's where I belong, my own place in the world. And yours obviously is for you, too!
amazing that you can cook after cooking all day (o:
I love the flowers and the kitty of course
I have a cat waiting too (o:
Having a haven that welcomes you back at the end of the day is precious. It can make all the difference in the world. Lovely post, Kathleen.
Did you know that if you scratch on a pumpkin or gourd it will scar and stay that way? I've always planned to write "welcome" on one but never get around to it.
I have always loved zinnias but you are inspiring me to try some pumpkins. I have one, so we will see if it takes up my whole garden (which is very small). It will be fun to see. Love your kitty.
Home is a heaven on earth... when I worked at the Toyota factory a couple years ago, coming home and going out to the rabbit barn was so relaxing to me. Just watching the little ones that had just opened their eyes, or the little bit older ones who were starting to jump out of or into their nesting box. Also, if I had a chance to go to my herb garden and run my hands over some of the herbs before going to work, would help keep a peaceful mind while in the "rat-race" pace.
Your flowers are absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Kathleen, I was thinking of you earlier when I pulled out of my linen drawer the lovely embroidered towel I bought from you. You are so right about that tiredness that gives way to needful things, and God is so good in giving us the energy to do what we should!
Your garden is seeming to produce an abundant harvest, and the noodles, YUM! I am hungry for good, homemade egg-noodles now.
Oh, how I love home! I work at a school so I have summers off, but I am already dreading returning to the daily grind! I am praying that I can find a way to stay home--perhaps keep my precious little grandson--but there is always the question of health insurance benefits that I need. Some days I feel like I am enslaved by those "benefits"!
You are such a lovely writer, Kathleen and I sense your same love of home. That's where we flourish. Lovely post!

You are amazing! You make homemade pasta after a long day? I'm very inspired. I have a lovely new kitty called Topaz and three wonderful boys and they do make my home my respite.
Home is where we are built up and it is where our hearts melt at the sight of the animals that need us. It sounds like you are energized by coming home...and that is wonderful! Home is life giving!
I'm glad you've got such good things to meet you at the end of a long day : )
The flowers are so beautiful!
When I think of home, what comes to my mind, is my mom's soups and rice dipped in home-made clarified butter.
Can't wait to go home now:-)
