Two Worlds

At 5:00 AM, the rooster crows to let me know he has seen the light come on in my house,
and I walk out to say goodbye to him , the hens, and the ducks that make up the barnyard gang.
I leave this world I love and hold dear...............

and by 6:30, I am busy filling orders of bacon and eggs- over- easy to the different hungry visitors at the diner. This hectic world, where the grease stings my arms like angry bees, and at times, makes me feel like Lucy in the chocolate factory.............(do you remember that show?) has been the place I visit for the early part of my day. By 2:00 in the afternoon, the burgers and orders that have piled up before me, have finally disappeared and once again, the diner is quiet. I have gotten used to my new surroundings.............so much that I know the kitchen and everything in it as if it were my kitchen at home. This world.................one I have chosen to fill in gaps that have long needed to be filled.............leaves me exhausted.
I then leave this world................
(Lincoln Peas from the seeds of Hometown Seed Company)
and come home to the world I have busily worked to build around me. A world where everything is fresh and green................

quiet............... and taking it's time to grow.................

(green beans from the seed of Hometown Seeds)
a world that I love to work in until the sun sets..................

In this world............welcome purrs and soft fur wait for me..............

patiently..............no matter how long it takes me to get the job done.................

A world that beckons to me..................and tells me to slow down and enjoy what I see.
And I do!
How about you?? Are you living in two worlds? Which do you like the most? Your work world............or your home? Or do you have another world where you can escape??? I would love to hear!

The Good News, The Bad News, And All In-between

The Good News??
1. I have finished all of my embroidery orders for customers, which leaves me time to blog!!
The Bad News??
A wild burro I have been seeing on my way to work and one I was hoping to somehow catch, because no one wanted it, was hit and left on the road to die. And wouldn't you know.............. I am the one to come upon it. It was alive, but had it's front leg broken and other injuries. A couple of farmers came along and helped move it off from the road. After a few other cars stopped by, I learned who it actually belonged to and stayed with it until the owner arrived and unfortunately, they had to put the poor creature out of it's misery..............I boo- hooed all the way home.
Other bad news.........
my stove went out this morning.........meaning I am going to have to be creative in feeding my family for the next couple of weeks until I can purchase a new one................
The Good News..........
I get a brand NEW stove!!!!!
And as for all of the usual news..........West Texas has gotten a lot of good rain...........so good that my little garden has gotten quite big. The peas are blooming,
The Swiss Chard, carrots, romaine lettuce, spinach, beets, radishes, green beans, corn, cucumber, and squashes are all growing well. These are all from the seed of Hometown Seed Company.
I have also planted all of my pumpkin and decorative gourd plants from the greenhouse into the garden spaces.

Other bad news............my favorite vintage enamelware bowl got a hole in it.....
The Good News........
it's makes a lovely container for moss rose!..........or is it rose moss??? I always forget.........

The best news............
Life of all shapes and sizes is showing up in all places!
How about you?? Any bad news................any good news??? Any interesting creatures stopping by to visit?? I would love to hear!

Where Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone........

Sophie................................
Where are you???....................
"Here I am!!................."
I have to say, it's moments like this that make me smile. On one of our late afternoon walks, Sophie and I went up the field road, that winds behind and beside our grounds. She loves darting in and out and jumping up and down in the tall wheat that the farmer's have recently planted. From the way her nose works and her tail wags, I am sure she is smelling the traces of some wild creature that has passed that way. I am so glad we did this when we did...............today it has been harvested, leaving nothing but short twigs, no more than a couple of inches high.
