Eggs

When I grow so very old and don't seem to recall,........remember..........,or fit into life any longer..........
I hope I will always...........somewhere tucked away in all of the files of a life most cherished........have this picture in my mind. The hues of green and brown, the texture and the warmth of how eggs feel......... fresh from the nest..........can their ever be a sweeter memory.............except for toothless grins from babies???
And when I am sitting in my solitude and a smile comes across my wrinkled face...........I will probably be remembering................ Opal...........thinking............."now where did those eggs go?...........they were just here a minute ago.............
How about you? Besides toothless babies...........what memory would you want to cling to the most? I would love to hear!

I'll tell you what (and I'm sure it's the same for all of us mamas) ~~~

It's the smell & texture of your baby's neck with peach fuzz hair - just kissing them in that little crevice and breathing in their scent & warmth... nothing sweeter...

After watching my mom drift away with alzheimers, I will take any memory I can possibly conjure up:)
I just hope I'm a positive happy old person. I've met some really unpleasant rude grouches. Whatever you are young, you'll be even more old:)

I think one memory will surely be Bruno looking at me like I'm the most wonderful person on earth.

right now I am just holding tight to the memories of my Granddaughters...when I see pictures of them as one or two...I feel like maybe I didn't hold them enough...that's why I do it whenever I can (o:
Love those eggs...how beautiful.
Do you sell them or use them all up yourself?

Right now I guess I would say the smiles on my sons' faces, but there are so many other things too, it's hard to pick just one. Sweet post, Kathleen! :)

That was a lovely post, I like the look and feel of fresh eggs too. But I have no idea which memory I would want to make sure I held onto the most. But I must say that certain fragrances from my garden are quite frankly the one thing that can completely and utterly, for the rest of the day, change my mood without fail, because they often have a childhood or early married life memory connected to them.

I join with Debbie - father lost to Alzheimer's and mother to strokes - if I grow old - I hope I'm the most pleasant little old gal in the room. One friend said her grandmother had dementia and couldn't remember her children - she'd get a little flustered and pat their hands and say - I don't remember much of anything but I know my Jesus and He's all I need.
I would think the warm spring air smells - like Lanny some smells can just make my day. Sweet posting and glad you are back - those eggs are beauties.

What a sweet post Kathleen and I LOVE the basket of sweet pastel egss!!! My fondest memory is at Christmastime when I was young and both sets of grandparents and the entire family was together. Oh how I wish that could happen again...at least here on earth!

Thinking of you!

My thoughts exactly, and often. Thoughts of my babies, my animals, the lambs bouncing, oh so many wonderful sights, smells, sounds...helps me remember to take time to just , well, take them in, savor them, even if for only this moment. And of course take time to thank God for them all.

Wow - those eggs are really pretty... we recently lost my husband's mother to alzheimers. It is a mean disease. Memories of time spent with my family and my children. That is what I would hate to lose.

I want to always remember what it feels like to stand in the garden, covered from head to toe with dirt, smelling the soil and the Earth around me.

Lovely eggs! I remember a simple summer day with the clink of real glass milk bottles, my mother ironing and the smell of the steam and cotton, clothes that were dried on the backyard line.

Those are some great memories! I love the smell of a newborn baby's head! So wonderful! I love seeing my kids and chickens run around out in the yard!

Beautiful post, it would be impossible to pick just one fond memory. God willing, I'd pray that my memories will be of family~ the times we have shared together, yes, critters on our little hobby farm~ and all the happiness they have filled my heart with (especially, the horses) and friends~ for being there in good times and bad.

Blessings, Mel

I store up memories for the future too-but sometimes I think I'm running out of room : ) For this weekend-my memories to store are-2 girls singing in front of a crowd of people-and being asked to come back and sing another one cause they did so good. And-the whole family spending the day together in back breaking work-but enjoying it every minute of it.

Thank goodness, your able to gather those happy memories now!
You have many blessings...I'm glad you didn't have to linger long with waiting for your computer to be fixed...My son fixed mine up for me..don't know how long it will last...I have too many irons in the fire now to replace it.

What a sweet memory recall for me of gathering eggs at my Grma's home, it was a special treat, we knew that a great responsibility had been bestowed on us. I thing holding my husbands had ranks at the top, flannel jammies, raspberries warmed by the sun...........
