You have packed up all of your leaves and warm sunshine..... and I feel the wind that you must catch on the way,
must you go so soon?
You just got here..........
and I have so enjoyed your comforting visit.
Your perfume of cinnamon, apples, and pumpkin spice still linger slightly, and I will miss that when you leave.
I must admit......I am not looking forward to your sister's visit. Winter has such a cold personality.....
and once she's settled in, she almost never wants to leave.
So farewell, my most cherished season, I will look for you next year as soon as the pumpkins start showing their brilliant colors and the leaves whisper that you will soon be near. Don't stay away too long!

I know that Autumn is over when the cinnamon, pumpkin and spice candles go on sale in the stores! Autumn is my favorite season. Once Christmas has passed, I long for Spring!
I love this post! It is beautifully expressed! I feel the same way about winter! V.
Dont worry, Autumn will be back next year with that beautiful cloak of reds, golds and greens. Wanna know a secret? I keep my cinnamon and spice candle going all year. LOL.

I COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER...I TOO LOVE FALL! :D
That was a lovely little ode to my favorite season as well! Thanks. You know we have two more full days of fall! I need them, I still have bulbs and garlic to finish planting! But I still have tomorrow and Sunday and before nineish Monday morning even! It is funny, but spring is my least favorite because of our constant rain and the mud and muck while trying to get the lambs born and begin back gardening. But if not for Christmas and the possibility of ice skating, winter would be a killer!
I feel the same, Autumn,I love this season and it passes too quickly. But each season does bring it's own blessings too, so I look forward to those and again anticipate my favorite time of the year, Autumn, in due time.( but not too quickly come, I get older each Autumn too)
Farewell to fall. It is def. not here anymore. Winter has come in full force. I do love Autumn
been an interesting autumn here in Texas hasn't it? we still have some trees with lots of leaves but tons of leaves on the ground - makes such a wonderful crunchy sound when we walk back there and the smell of wet leaves - ah now that is a perfume! Little Miss Winter can make a quick visit - freeze enough to kill off some insects and boogey on outta here!
I couldn't agree more. It seems like fall never sticks around for very long anymore! Winter is always in a rush to get in!
it was a good fall...wasn't it?
Kathleen, You really do have a way with words! And your pictures always go perfectly with your posts. I bet, though you are sad to see autumn go, that you love her sister just as much:)
It is starting to feel like winter! You have a wonderful way with words!
beautiful words
The 'sister is here in Colorado
she wont want to leave until June or later
in my older age I have no patience for her lingering
Lovely post, Kathleen. Seems like fall left here long ago though! HA! Winter is firmly planted here for the moment. :D
Lovely ode to fall, Kathleen. I love autumn, too, and am always sorry to see it go. I like to put Christmas off as long as possible and enjoy every single day of autumn's cool temps and the golden glow the low sun casts on everything. Here in Texas, we still have trees turning!
I was in Target yesterday, and they already have put out their BATHING SUITS FOR SUMMER!!! Good grief!
Beautiful! And I sooooooo agree.
