We have gotten rain every day for this past week! The good kind of rain.....rain that falls steady and then tapers off into a slight drizzle, letting the hard packed earth sink in the moisture. The nights are in the chilly 50's,
the days are in the invigorating 60's. Every day has been a perfect day for a long walk in solitude and peace.
So......put on your shoes.....Sophie is ready....come walk with me! Even though fall is quietly hanging around in the outside grounds......
I'll take you to the path where the flowers are still vibrant and the bees are busy buzzing around....

and where the butterflies dart in and around the blossoms.
You will get the chance to see the tumbleweed while it is still green.....with all of it's kin lining up along the road....ready to start their tumble in the winter.

You will get to see the ranch lands, so full of welcoming flowers,

Beautiful! Thanks for the peaceful walk! Brings back memories of when mu hubby and I were driving trucksthur there. I know what you mean about the different colors and hues of greens.
Are the "berries" on the cactus edible? I know there are some kinds can be used for jams or jellies.
Kathleen, you are blessed with the gift of hospitality and vision. Thanks for the post. I would love to see my birth place of West Texas. Perhaps someday this will be a reality and I'll let you know so we can meet somewhere for lunch or coffee.
Thanks for the comment you left on my blog. Debbie
Good morning Kathleen - thanks for stopping by with your sweet words of encouragement.
And Thank You for taking us on your walk this morning. I envy you your cool temps. Ours are still a little uncomfortable with the humidity. We've had that good slow soaking rain the past few days, too, and I hope we get some more.
I think Texas is so diverse - you can see a little bit of every kind of landscape if you drive far enough. I love your west Texas landscape, even tho it's hot and dry and barren sometimes. I don't know what part of Texas you're in, but we go through parts of west and southwest Texas on our ways to Mexico for medical/building mission trips. I love going through there because it's so different from East Texas. That wide open feeling is so liberating - makes me wish I could fly!
Think I'll tag along with Debbie when she comes to visit for coffee or lunch!
Kathleen,
I enjoyed taking the walk with you and Sophie, seeing the beautiful flowers, the butterfies, the pond, the tumbleweeds and catcus. What a lovely posting. You have such a beautiful countryside. Thanks for the beautiful tour of your homeland. Have a blessed day.
What a wonderful walk with such beauty along the way!
Thank you for sharing that...
We could sure use the rain here but I am just grateful that the fires have died down and the temps have dropped a bit!
Wishing you a week of sweet and simple joys!
wonderful walk - familiar countryside to me - my brother is still in the Midland Odessa area. You have a good eye for catching all the little bits of beauty - thank you for sharing!
Beautiful pictures! The weather sounds great! I would love to sit a spell with you in the kitchen.
the next best thing to being there, what beautiful country. I love the detail that you put into your posts.
Such lovely surroundings for you and Sophie to explore. It would be a real treat to join you!

I enjoyed walking with you and Sophie, Kathleen - and taking in all the beautiful late summer scenery.
Love the pictures and the way you embrace fall. I am having a hard time letting summer go...of course we have not had the hot weather you probably have (o:
Lovely photographs! Obviously summer has departed from your region! Not yet here and we are experiencing days of showers and almost constant drizzle. Enjoyed the visit! V.
thanks for taking me on that beautiful walk with you! plus i needed the exercise, i barely made it over the barbed wire fence to pick the flowers, but i am fine now. sorry i can't stay longer maybe next time!
I'll be right over!! What a lovely walk and I agree, there are so many beautiful greens along the walk!
Great walk beautiful pictures, my favorite is the winged creature on the aster! Nice color combination.
Rain is so often such a blessing, especially when it is scarce. Beautiful walk, and you're right, there are so many different colors of green. God is the ultimate Artist, His paintbrush creates more beautifully than even the most gifted artist can re-create.
Hi Kathleen,I sure am going to miss all the green. I am not a winter person at all ! Lovely pics !
Nothing like a good old country walk and having dear Sophie to walk with! Thanks for the great pictures you shared!
Hugs,
Maryjane
Oh! Thanks for the walk, Miss Kathleen....I sure needed it!
It's so muggy here. I'm loving the rain, but my poor hair just kinks up so bad... We're not having the chill that y'all are.
I can't wait, though!
Again, thanks for the walk - it was beautiful!
Those jellybean eggs are too precious!
Many Blessings,
Julie
