Farewell, Dear Summer

The wind has whispered it's cool announcement that it is time for you to go...

You have stormed across my life
in such a beautiful way....

I have enjoyed your fields of flowers, filled with buzzing bees, and I have felt your welcoming warmth upon my face.

You have given me much inspiration.

You have introduced me to some of the sweetest creatures......

as well as some of the most curious...

You have helped give me the Earth's sweet bounty....

and now the flowers are also saying....

"It's time to go".

As I close the door to your visit, I will look back on the warm memories you have given through your short stay. I know it won't be long until I look out the window and see you waiting outside with a bouquet of flowers. Summer, I will miss you! .........

Me, too, Kathleen! I'll miss summer, too. I love spring and summer, and fall, and winter. I don't particularly like January and February tho...wish we had a longer fall season in Texas. I hate how the merchants still have bathing suits AND put the Christmas stuff out! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and it seems to almost get left out! I'm going to take time to enjoy FALL.

Lovely post - you have such a way with words and picture stories!

Ya know, this might be the first year that I miss summer too. I actually really really prefer autumn over all the other seasons but this summer, even though I failed miserably, I really will miss it.

What a lovely post and pictures today Kathleen. I'm always a little sad to see any season end but I do enjoy each one. Hope you have a very nice day.

Summer is fleeing and Autumn is dancing in..I love Autumn and it is my favorite season. There is still sunshine and warmth, but the crisp weather and beautiful fall color I love is here, hooray. Except, summer won't leave and we are having a bit of a heat wave in the Pacific Northwest. Come on over for a visit , summer is here!

Lovely post Kathleen, thank-you.

I'm just in the state of denial right now. I am eager for the beautiful color and fall goings-on. And everything will be nice till after the Christmas season. But in January, it will be a long 4 months till sanity!

I enjoy your posts so much, you have a gift of writing the perfect words to go with your pictures. We didn't have the hot weather here in Michigan, so seems a little unreal that it is fall. We also should be mindful of the folks in Atlanta today who are in great distress because of the weather. I hope your week goes well, thanks for posting.

I will miss summer also. You are a poet! And ever so talented! I feel like we really didn't get summer, so I feel like I am still waiting for it.

I LOVE summer too, but am looking forward to the autumn cool. Winter after the holidays is difficult for me--especially Jan-March-- when skies are dreary and sunlight is sparse. At least April brings the promise of the warmth of May! Lovely post--I just loved it!!! V.

Thought for sure I'd commented on this lovely post already - your touches of autumn color and changes are so poetic. It feels like fall here - been chilly in the mornings and warm by afternoon. State Fair started today so weather will be crazy for us I'm sure (we get State Fair Weather, then in January/February we get Stock Show Weather --I recall in W. Tex there was usually a sandstorm for the high school competitions at West Texas Relays!)

Wonderful post! I love the pictures with it. I don't miss summer much, as my favorite time is Fall when things seem to unwind and get peaceful after all the activity summer brings.

Girl, can I say - I just love you. You touch my heart when you write things like this. You are so poetic, and I sure pray you are keeping these times - when poetry comes through your posts - in a binder somewhere.

Blessings.
