The fall air is making the late afternoons and early mornings wonderfully cool.
With the daylight going so much earlier, I have been spending my late afternoons sitting out and enjoying the colorful autumn sky as I listen to the mixture of calls from the coyote and cattle that surround me.
The grain field next to us has already dressed itself in amber and green.

Even the critters are matching the fall coloring scheme.
The barnyard gang is dropping their feathers and getting their new fall plumage ready.
The young chicks in the group are practicing their egg laying skills......these little eggs look like jelly beans laying in the hen house nests.......just a little more time......
All of the flowers are showing off their fall colors as well.
The Bougainvillea by the back door is displaying it brilliant pink and orange crepe paper like petals. I just love this plant!

even it boasts it's fall colored blossoms.
The candle gives off a warm autumn glow as I burn the midnight oil on my stitching...
and this......Mountain Dew....no...it's not something I drink....however, it is something I buy occasionally for a wonderful fall recipe. To find out come visit my country cooking blog http://countrykitchenkat.blogspot.com.

Now are any of you making special fall treats like pop corn balls, caramel apples.....? Have you pulled out your sweater for a late afternoon outside? I would love to hear!

Hi Kathleen, I have been so busy in the canning kitchen I forgot about fall colors! LOL Thanks for reminding me to take a break and get out on the 4-wheeler to take a trip to the botton field and "look around"!
Love your posts! Have a blessed day!
Early morning/evening I have had to throw on my light fleece jacket. Our days are getting shorter and many trees are getting color. My favorite time of year. I sure enjoyed your pictures Kathleen.
Lovely photos. I so love this time of year. We still have hot weather here in Atlanta but there are signs of cooling. I soo love fall.
Pat
It's amazing how quickly the days get shorter! I noticed last week that the sun was setting a lot quicker.
After getting dumped on and blown off the top of the mountain while trying to pick huckleberries, I sort of do feel ready for fall. It is my favorite season but I'm reluctant to let go of summer too soon. Mostly because I just want to sit and enjoy it or take long drives to see all the different tree colors, and I still have "summer" work to do!
Your pictures are great!
I can feel autumn in the air, but it's still hot! No sweaters here. I do love the rhythms of the seasons, though, don't you?
Kathleen,
I love the beautiful photos. It's so refreshing for the mornings and evenings to be cool. Fall is coming and I really like the beautiful colors. I sure enjoyed your lovely posting. Thanks for visiting my blog.
You have lots of sign of fall at your place! That really gets me in the mood for cooler nights!
Hi Kathleen, your flowers are still so pretty ! I went and read your recipe, sounds yummy. When I get time I will try to make it.
Fall is my favorite season and I enjoy hearing about how you celebrate the warm colors and crisp air! I made a big pot of homesmade spaghetti sauce yesterday. It was made purely from the garden bounty! We share the same little eggs, zinnias and cozy delights!
Kathleen, is the grain in the fields next to you millet? Do these fields attract a lot of wild birds?
I love the little blue egg and the simple beauty of the barred chicken feather. It looks as though you and I get very excited by the same types of things...I just love this time of year!
BTW, when you write about your beloved needle-working you inspire me. Thank-you!
love the feather photo!
using a light sweater on the cooler rainy days.

so the it is not casey, it is actually nAncY
Fall is here also! I love everything about fall, except it brings winter.

Wonderful pictures... the flower colors are gorgeous!
Looks like the young chicks have a ways to go in the egg laying department, but they're getting there! LOL
Kathleen...your shades of fall are so pretty. Our mornings are cooler but we are still having warm days....I'm looking forward to some signs of fall...hugs, Linda
No ma'am, no sweaters just yet - I'm 52 ya know. I think I've been hot all my life, tho, my age has nothing to do with it.
I'm ready for fall. The days being a little shorter is the only sign of fall around here so far - well the big sycamore is beginning to drop a few big ole leaves. Yes, the nights are a little cooler, but it was 85 at bedtime last night. I've put out some fall decor much earlier than usual. Perhaps it will hurry the autumn along a bit, do you think?
Lovely pictures! We're just about done with the monsoon season in my part of the world. It's not until November that we really need to bring out our sweaters. Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
Oh, my, I wish I could need my sweater. It is cooler now but still around 90 deg F during the day, and humid because we've been having afternoon showers. I'm afraid I'll have to wait another month and then drive to the mountains to need a sweater.
You never cease to amaze me of all the things you can accomplish in a day/week and still take time to photograph the world around you. You are a blessing. Keep it up. Have a blessed week-end.
This is absolutely my favorite time of year and I put all my fall stuff out last weekend. It puts me in a good mood! It's still pretty warm around here in MO (80s) but I'm looking forward to it cooling off. Well I'm off to check out the Mountain Dew recipe!! Have a good weekend ~ ♥
Wonderful photos full of the colors of the changing seasons, Kathleen. I'm not quite ready to let go of summer yet, but I guess I will have to soon.
What lovely flowers ... the green pumpkin is a kick.
Pop over & greet my friend, Gail on her 2d day of blogging ~ tell her I sent you.
