Where peace really is

The day was windy and cold,.....I also had much work to do...no time for a daily walk. By late afternoon, the wind calmed down and the setting sun painted the sky in hues of pink, blue and gold. Still enough light to go for a walk. Not one human voice, not one running motor......just the sound of quietness and calm.
In a matter of minutes, the sky changed to colors of tangerine and purple. The moon, not quite full, was bright and the coyotes started their serenade. All farm life is tucked away in hay...safe for the night. In moments like this, I realize how blessed I am to live in such "peace". I can feel it settle over me like the warmth of a blanket. If I live to be a hundred and if I am able to still recall the moments of my life....it will be times like these that will bring a smile to my face.

We had some skies like that, too, Kathleen, and my camera was nowhere in sight. I can't wait until we can move to our farmhouse. We've spent enough time out there to know the peace and quiet that you're talkin' about. It's where I feel my best and can reflect on all the blessings that the Lord has given me - especially the gift of sight to see His creation. Thanks for sharing -

You captured it so well with your words. There is nothing like that feeling. I still have photographs of sunsets that I took as a teenager when we lived on our farm. Those moments were precious to me.

I take so many pictures of the sky - but it changes all the time and the fact that God gives us such beauty simply because it pleases Him - yep - I love those quiet evening walks. Thanks for sharing one of yours - with us

Oh Kathleen, what beautiful pictures. Surely you carry your camera in your apron pocket, to be able to capture these picture before they vanish for ever. Yes, they bespeak of peace in a trouble world. Thanks for sharing.

I love to take walks by myself with no distractions. I see people walking with their ipod or cell phone stuck to their ear and I think of how much they are missing. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Thanks for visiting. It's fun to meet new People. I love the sky in your picture, the clouds and color, the vivid hues - wonderful! The peace of the country must be such a blessing - I live where there is the constant background of traffic. I just go in my backyard and garden and imagine living in the country.

I know what you mean Kathleen... I get the same feeling after all the animals are locked up for the night and Hubby and I walk down the hill to the house hand-in-hand... then to turn to see the sunset God has painted over the barn is truly a wonderful feeling!!
