This is the time of year for gathering...........

and for all of us, "gathering has a whole different meaning".
For me, it's a gathering of the last of the pumpkins on the vine,
a time to gather seeds from the fading flowers ,
a time to gather the many pieces of nature( from pine cones to dry leaves and twigs)
that lay in wait for my imagination to use them in some way or another.
It is also a time to gather my thoughts...................
with holidays approaching, it's a time I think upon those I love and look forward for them
to gather at our table ,
and a moment to gather my feelings as I think of the loss of some of those dear ones who won't be joining us this time.
It's a time to gather up my mind's list of all that I am thankful for and that my family got through the year on,
and then there is the hope and faith  I gather in my heart........
for the days to come..........
How about you?
What are you "gathering" this time of year?
I would love to hear!

I know that fall, for most people, more or less means the ending of the year; here on the farm work goes on and in a way is as demanding as in the summer. So, we've done our gathering in the summer for use this winter. I'll try to find time to work on quilts in between the chores.

There are so many things to gather out there... for sure.
You always do the neatest things with them.
Glad you got a door on your green house... it is the source of much joy (o:

Gathering zinnia seeds today, black walnuts this coming weekend, and I hope a gathering of friends as I pass through my days. This was a good post!

My son gathered up the last of the watermelons that he grew last night. He had fun watching them grow this summer. Nice post, Kathleen! :)

This is definitely a time to gather. Reminds me of Thanksgiving and gathering with family also.

Hi Kathleen. I was out gathering seeds myself this morning. Putting them in envelopes and taping up for next spring. Guess I'll keep them in the fridge. Also, unfortunately, digging and gathering up grassburrs...and gophers...

I'm think of Thanksgiving, too. My favorite holiday. And there will be a couple of empty places at the table this year for us as well. Time marches on, and we have to go ahead on and live... but still my favorite holiday, and being thankful for the time that we DID have with them!

Gathering memories of the last of football, our youngest is a sr. so this will be our last year as football parents. Fall is so enjoyable. Your pinecones look funner than ours, which can be pretty sappy.

Kathleen, currently we are gathering memories while on this NH road trip. But, once we return home, we will be gathering fallen pecans, mulching wildflower gardens and respreading the seeds, pruning the hedges and crepe myrtles and more.

Perfect picture of the pinecones.

I love pinecones, the tree next door is full of some HUGE ones, I am waiting for them to fall so I can gather some.

I am gathering apples from the trees in our orchard. I also have gathered quite a few large pine cones to put in buckets by the sides of our fireplaces. The pine cones look pretty, and seasonal. At the end of winter I begin to use the pine cones as fire-starter. Then I will need to gather more next year. :)
