I can't believe I'm reading this. I just ...Oh, wow! I can't believe I'm reading this. I just spent the weekend with my parents. On the drive to their house (they live in a town called San Angelo, way out in the middle of nowhere) we passed dozens of fields full of stripped cotton and I thought it was a shame that so much was left on the stalk in some of the fields. My husband (who grew up on a cotton farm in the panhandle of Texas) explained to me why that happens. Anyway, then we got into a conversation about whether the remaining cotton could be hand carded and spun into thread like wool. I visited a plantation in Louisiana once and watched wool spun and woven. My husband thought I was nuts and told me about how tough the cotton stalk was and how I'd cut my hands to pieces. But look at you! I can't believe it. I'm so excited to watch your progress! How fun.I hope you keep us posted.Karinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13664980516440458792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1755931701182556976.post-3628380574477513852009-01-04T14:14:00.000-08:002009-01-04T14:14:00.000-08:00Kathleen, that yarn is lovely. You might also consider some of the "hair" goats instead of sheep - mohair goats were once a huge cash producer in texas. I'm prejudiced about goats though!LindaSuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01684545110832413808noreply@blogger.com
