UPDATE: on damaged meadow

at the risk of sounding like a broken record, once again I am posting about the
meadow on our property that was damaged  in January 2016
by a utility company
here is the previous post on my blog at this link
bloggers, beware this is not my usual post

and the damage looked like this

and this after the crew left.............
after a long year of phone calls, emails back and forth,
meetings...........damage payment and negotiations accepted and agreed upon,
the land now has a fence around it

and Mother Nature worked her healing hand across it all
and now it is more full of wildflowers than I could
have ever imagined!

Wildflowers of every color has presented themselves in
the most cheery way

The fragrance is heavenly.

This year the wildflowers have taken over every area of
our acreage......even in parts of the thick mesquite woods

in the backyard..........there are wonderful thick patches
in every kind and color of wildflower.
and flowers I have planted are also blooming in vibrant colors.
This Hollyhock survived winter with a blanket put over it......
and it is now in full bloom.

The Larkspur I planted in beds around the house have sprouted
in the beds.........and also traveled into the woods
to bloom!

Thankfully, the mother cat Belle

and her 6 cute kittens will be traveling a 100 miles with us
in the next few days to be placed in a "no kill" sanctuary for cats
which are adopted out!
I spent days researching and pleading with groups to take these sweet cats......only one place at this time was able to help me.
  Belle will be spayed
and the kittens will receive their shots....then
they will be seen in the "adoption week"
segment coming up. Whoever adopts them pays a fee which
will ensure that they will be spayed or neutered when the time comes.
I am so relieved , especially for the mother cat, Belle.
She deserves a good loving home as much as the kittens do.
But I have had to make a decision......in the future........ to get a trap and to trap any
cats that are dumped on me, and to take them to the animal shelter before they
start having kittens.  I have to keep my heart out of this.......sigh
I simply cannot afford the feed,  the cat litter, and the travel expenses  to take
care of them all......
I wish everyone would just simply research and find a rescue for their pets
than to heartlessly drop them out in a scary wild area hoping that
I will take care of them.
(sorry to start a rant)......but this kind of thing really upsets me the most.
And if you can...........donate whatever you can to organizations like these.
Any little thing from food to $$ helps in the care of the overwhelming amount
of dogs and cats that need home placement.

I am glad you were compensated for the damage to your land. The meadow looks beautiful. Did you scatter wildflower seeds? -Jenn

Wonderful! You have the wildflowers back. I believe I told you before, wish I could plant the entire backyard in wildflowers! :)

I think it's great the way you are handling the kittens. Not everyone is as nice as you are, sadly.

Thanks for the update!

One year on and the wild flowers have grown and bloomed, nature overcoming any obstacle and showing its beauty. Good that after all your phoning and perseverance, this is now an area of colour. And for your kitties, so good that they will all have new loving homes.

Oh Kathleen, I am so happy to see all those beautiful wildflowers growing. I'm glad your land has recovered from the damage inflicted on it. I'm happy to hear the mama cat and kittens will be taken care of. You have such a good heart to take them to the shelter.

The field of flowers is glorious! I love wildflowers better than almost any flowers. Our area has organizations that will spay feral cats at a very low cost and release them back into the area where they came from if the person that brings them in is willing to feed them. My SIL has three she has taken into her home and 3 that live outside. We have been trapping strays and taken them to the shelter because if we don't they just multiply so fast it's unbelievable. I admit that I am not a cat person, but I do love most animals and have a big heart for them.

I'm glad your issue with the field was fixed, or at least compensated fgor. The wildflowers are gorgeous. We have the same problem with strays here..people just think they can dump their animals anywhere when they tire of them...makes me so angry.

The meadow looks beautiful, so glad the whole ordeal has come to a successful conclusion. I live near a creek and dumped animals have been a problem. It makes me so angry that people are so irresponsible with their animals!

The wildflowers blooming in that formerly damaged meadow are so colorful, Kathleen. And, like after a forest fire, the vegetation always comes back often more abundant than before. The kitten was so adorable and glad to read that its siblings and mama cat will be safe from harm and hopefully all adopted. So nice of you to take good care of them all!

Kathleen, your wildflowers look marvelous! Isn't God good to restore what seems to be unsalvageable! So glad, too, that you've found a safe place for Belle and her kittens. I hate it when people dump animals, and it's not just in the country, there are lots of them here in the suburbs, too. Heartbreaking, but at three dogs and two cats, we are at limit!

What a glorious sight your wildflower meadow is!!
It's a shame that people would just drop off unwanted cats or any pets. Belle and the kitten you have shown are so cute!!

Those wildflowers are beautiful! I was hoping our bluebonnet seeds would have sprout this year, but alas.... we only had two on our property. lol! We had lots of Indian Paintbrush other wildflowers though.

I hear ya on the cats and irresponsible people. We sometimes get cats and dogs around here, too. One of the cats decided to just never leave us, but we already have three dogs and simply couldn't keep him. (Not to mention that whenever I spoke to him or pet him, he would salivate. lol! I don't know what that was about, but he only did it with me. We knew we couldn't keep him, so we we were careful not to pay too much attention to him; other than offering him shelter outside and feeding him). LUCKILY, we were able to take him to the vet and give him to my uncle. He's been neutered and gets his flea medication.

Goodness does that cat look different now! He is BEAUTIFUL. He's gained some healthy weight and his coat is so fluffy he looks like a show cat. It's amazing.
